ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

It sounds like you did well. I got up once to let Jake out of the room, once to use the bathroom, and twice to blow my nose. Didn’t get up officially until 6:00 a.m. EDT, and then I got downstairs to find the coffee wasn’t ready. Turns out that Tom set the clock 12 hours off, after the carpet cleaner blew the breaker. My face looks puffy and old today.

I just texted Jamie saying I need my haircut, and she replied that she’d noticed on Monday that it looked bushy - but good! - and wasn’t surprised to hear from me. I’ll probably go over to her house tomorrow, unless she wants to come here because there’s wine.

Unghhh...

The inspector came at almost 1630, and is not going to replace either the stove or the fridge. He is replacing the seal on the fridge, and as to the stove, I can just live with it because “it works just fine” while his hand was over the burner.

So. The new manager is all business and not the least bit sympathetic to the wants and needs of the tenants. He DID say to “let me know” if the burner doesn’t work in the future, but I’m pretty sure nothing will be done. Period. So I’m composing a letter in my head for the future, to be sent to whoever at the state level. I have never had qualms about going over someone’s head.

Ugggh. But at least the fridge will be repaired, and you can keep hassling them about the stove.

Jamie can cut my hair around lunchtime Saturday. I’ll just have to suffer until then. Choir practice at Asuncion’s later this morning. It’s not like anyone was doing schoolwork anyhow ... they can watch a nature video.

Invite the manager over for some food.

Give it to him uncooked.

Tell him he’s welcome to try to cook it himself in your kitchen.

I am in desperate need of a trim, if for no other reason than the stimulate hair growth because the split and broken ends are gone. I’ve gone WAY past “bushy!”

It’s nice to look in the mirror and see curls...sorta. ;o]

I’ve been to Wally’s and got some pork and ground beef at mark-down prices, which is a good deal for me, as it’s all going into the freezer, once it’s been divided.

And I got more vinegar and baking soda for my drains. I probably need some in the bathroom drains, as well. And YOGURT for .50 cents! YAY!!!

Well. The wind is blowing once again, and we are expecting rain again tomorrow. At least some of the pollens are down!

For some reason, I’m tired, now, and I want to go to bed, but it’s far too early. Naps should be had in the mornings! LOL!

One thing is for sure: I will have to have a breathing treatment or two before I call it a day.
