Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
“Nothing Up My Sleeve” was one of her great torch songs.
So squee!
I love my Keurig, but then, I’m the only one drinking coffee, and I don’t do that every day.
So to have a percolator would actually be a waste for me, as I would throw out anything over one cup. And that’s a waste of good coffee. With a Keurig I don’t have to worry about breaking the carafe with my clumsy hands.
(I hate when I have a day like that. And it IS all day!)
Somewhere, I have a DVD of Rocky and Bullwinkle programs...I need to look for it. Those two kept me sane when I was pregnant! That and hockey...
*tagline*
Ah, but who can forget Piaf’s signature piece, “La Vie en Moose”.
You have concertina wire on your fence? Nice neighbors!
The laundry is done for one more week, but the dryers are now .75 instead of .50. GAH!
Most Mondays, I’m the only one in the laundry room, but today, everyone was wanting to wash. As I was waiting for the door to open, I saw a woman coming from the other direction, and when I got into the room, one of the machines was unplugged, which means it was down for repairs.
I opened the back door and let the woman in, she said she would go watch the news while waiting for one machine. Then a guy came in and used the front loader, and I gave him a quarter so he could wash, and when all three machines were busy, another guy came in the back door, acting all put out because he had to wait. *sheesh* He’s an inconsiderate smoker, and when I see him outside, I usually grab the mask out of my pocket to cut down on the cigarette smoke I ingest. He doesn’t care.
So when I had my clothes in the dryer, I went to look for him and he was outside, smoking.
I probably could have put everything in one dryer today, but I like the idea of CLEAN clothes!
And I thought about going to Walmart, but it’s a little late for that. The blue hairs are starting to come out and meander their ways though the aisles. I like to get in early enough so that the aisles are virtually empty.
Tomorrow early will be good.
I don' no nuffin' bout doin'' no laundry, but wouldn't the number of dryers impact whether you get DRY clothes?
The heat is so hot in these dryers that it almost fries your clothes. Sometimes, the items are so hot, I can’t handle them, so I have learned to put the dry level on medium. It takes less than 30 minutes to dry all but the thick towels.
But I STILL want my own set of laundry machines! :o|
I know how you feel. I love paying someone to replace my wig-wag while he ladels a tub full of wet soapy clothes out so he can work. And I still miss the days of cleaning the exhaust tube of the lint that got through the lint filter.
At least the newer installations use a lever to shut off all water to the washing machine so you don’t have to worry about a pressure valve failing and flooding the washroom while you’re not at home.
Who WOULDN’T want all that fun?
Self installing the wig-wag and water pump on my 35 year old washing machine cost less than $30 and added probably another 35 years to my washer. And over time replaced all interior valves to lever handled ball valves on my copper lines. You only need to experience flooding once to appreciate a PDQ water shut-off. Staying with analog controls as well.
Mrs. ArGee let me near an appliance with a tool ONCE to save some money. After all it cost us we now let the pros do it.
I am relegated to helping #1 son with his Boy Scouts projects. And since #1 son is 31, it’s been a while.
But the west is still standing, so I guess it’s for the best.
Which remindes me of an old saying ...
If builders built buildings the way programmers program, one woodpecker would wipe out all of civilization.

We're talkin' big time wig-wag now!
That stuff does have a certain presence, doesn’t it.
Sadly I can’t lay claim to it, the pic was taken out of the fire door at work, this morning.
The colours only lasted about twenty minutes. Then the rain took over.
You can have no idea of the scale of my surprise and delight to discover that FrostBite Falls had been originally over here.
Bullwinkle Moose’s ancestors must have made a spectacular sight as they entered the Medieval battlefield.
Banners Flying high ,with of course, the Moto Emblasened across them.
I wonder when they moved Frostbite Falls?
No doubt it is recorded in the Ancient Sagas: Tales of Wading through uncharted swamps and chewing on undescribed vegetation, Battling against the ferocious Wolf to save the Damsel in Distress.
Yesss....I see your point...
Dang. I just came in from being in the ramada and suddenly, I’m depressed. It happens often, but there are times when it comes out of nowhere and smacks me a good one. It is never easy to deal with.
Sometimes, the swings are minor, but this one is almost overwhelming. :o[
