ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

We have the CES starting tomorrow, and already the town is full. I think half the people who were here to welcome in 2016 stayed for the 2016 CES!

It’s a good thing Uber and Lyft have finally been given the go-ahead by the city, because there are just never enough taxis to take care of the visitors AND the locals. And the locals are on the dirty end of that stick.

LOL! It should be called that! FOX5 news yesterday even interviewed a guy who came from China just for the CES show...and came early enough to celebrate New Year’s Eve!

I just stepped outside to check on the progress of the sun, but though it is a skosh lighter out there than it was when I got up, the smell of fresh rain in the desert was a most beautiful aroma to really wake up to!

Second Breakfast consists of Earl Grey tea and an English muffin. (I’d rather have a crumpet, but...)

According to WeatherBug it’s 31 and snowing here. According to my eyes, it’s not snowing. Who to believe?

Must. Have. Coffee.

I went to the chiropractor yesterday. He was impressed by my bruises. Was able to provide some relief, needs to get my X-rays before he’ll proceed further. The ER I went to is in the only local hospital not set up for digital transmission of them. I was able to sleep for more than an hour at a time for the first time since the accident. He may want to take more, as a break may not show up very well until it starts healing.

I’m glad your son is there to hep you!

I would say that your doctor being impressed by your bruises is impressive, indeed!

You may have all the bananas with sugar spots that I can round up!

So what are you doing for transportation?

What kind of coffee did he bring you?

I found some Gevalia at Walmart yesterday. It’s Mocha Latte, and has a “2-Step” latte application. Put the packet of mocha in your cup, then let the K-cup coffee maker cycle through. When it hits the powder in the cup, it foams and make a “Phooosh” noise. Pretty cool! And tasty too, as it isn’t pre-sweetened.

None here, either. My truck is all water-spotted again. *sigh*

But it will have to gather the dust and rain spots until next payday, once again. And while I’m there, I promise I will finish washing the rear bumper (hard to get at because of the spare tire on the back door), and attack the trim and tires with Armor-All. If I go early enough, I shouldn’t have to wait for the vacuum.

I was so early last week that they were afraid the brushes were frozen. Ha-ha-ha! :o]

At least it’s only $10 to wash, there!

He's schlepping me around. My chest is too sore to be comfortable turning a steering wheel, and I don't yet have a car. Could have rented one and the insurance company would have covered. They haven't officailly scrapped my old one yet, and I don't know how much I'll have to replace it.

I never tried Gevalia, but since Trader Joes is out of my favorite, I’ma gonna try it.

I’ve always liked Gevalia coffees. They are, across the board, much better than Starbuck’s.

:o]

Let me know which one you choose.
