Most Americans have heard of the case of DB Cooper, who is accused of pulling off the only plane hijacking in the history of the United States that has never been solved.
Now, 44 years after the brazen air heist, a Michigan author has put forward a new theory linking the mystery of DB Cooper to an obscure missing person case involving a married father of four who vanished two years before the skyjacking and was never heard from again.
Over the years, the facts of the skyjacking history have become the stuff of legends: on November 24, 1971, a man known by the name Dan Cooper bought a ticket at Portland International Airport in Oregon and boarded a Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 to Seattle, Washington.
Author Ross Richardson suggested in his 2014 book 'Still Missing' DB Cooper may be missing Michigan man Richard Lepsy.

Is this man DB Cooper? Author believes missing Michigan father of four is the legendary plane hijacker - solving the greatest Thanksgiving mystery in US history
.
One theory is that DB was in the midst of a sex change and disappeared by living out his life as a woman. Seriously, this theory was being passed as a possibility a few years ago.
I’ve heard the theory that D.B. Cooper and the Zodiac Killer were the same man.
Hanging out with Elvis....
Wonder if searchers ever thought of looking up, and into the tops of tall trees for DB Cooper's skeleton.
Thinner than many DB Cooper claims.
But for some reason I always get suckered in and at least read the story.
Bailing out on a Northwest Airlines flight seems reasonable.
Remember, D B Cooper bailed out at night in the middle of a huge storm, over unknown terrain, and never heard from again.
About 10-12 years later a family camping in Oregon came upon a bag filled with old weather worn money believed to be from the hijacking.
It was also found that the man of that family was wanted for some crime in Oklahoma.
Thinner even than the black tie.
Interesting theory and one I hadn't heard.
So where were you in 1971?
I was born in June of 71 so I can’t be a suspect.
Same here. I always read/watch anything about D.B. Cooper, perhaps because it’s one of those ongoing mysteries from my youth.
Yes, it is interesting, but probably unsolvable.
Trouble is we hear about a new DB theory, and that means one thing - we’re about a week away FROM YET ANOTHER Amelia Earhart claim....
Ferget it already. She crashed and burned. Give it up already!
;-)
I was like 7 years old
Was that BECAUSE of DB Cooper?
I can't imagine one guy's brazen hijacking would make every plane be redesigned.
This was a one in a million case.
I believe DB Cooper threw live Turkeys out of his plane while over the Pinedale Shopping Mall
There’s one guy who looks just like the Cooper sketches who got pinched for an attempted airline hijacking or ransom, JUST like DB. I’m pretty sure it’s that guy.
