“That has been my experience.”

The vast experience of people with metabolic syndrome demonstrated beyond a shadow of any possible doubt that all the exercise and the low diets in the world does not prevent the eventual progression of diabetes in the presence of a high carbohydrate diet and higher than normal levels of insulin. See the experience of the physicians and surgeons who abandoned their erroneous presumptions and finally started to pay attention to their patients’ successful results and the supportive research studies, and see the personal experience of Dr. Peter Attia as one of many such examples:

As an old guy on medicare and Type 2 for 9 or 10 years, being diagnosed as type 2 increased the level of care by requiring two visits per year and similar visits to the eye dr to check for diabetic induced sight impairment.

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with diabetes 10 years ago. His doctor put him on meds and told him to watch what he ate. Cut the carbs almost completely, especially processed carbs. He lost 70 lbs., the doctor eventually dropped his meds and his blood work showed no more diabetes. He actually reversed the condition by eating a zero-to-low carb diet.

He still eats that way and has maintained his weight and has not needed medications since.

Thanks for the link and video. I knew previously that MetX could be treated with VLCD, with marked declines in triglycerides independent of weight loss. I did not understand (simple actually) the mechanism of fatty liver, pancreas and insulin sensitivity. This video was excellent and explained the relationship well.

Please add me to your ping list. Thanks.

Cholesterol meds are a mixed bag. They definitely have a significant side effect profile. On the other hand, there is some evidence they have anti-cancer and anti-aging effects in addition to hard evidence that they decrease risk of dying of heart attacks (evidence of benefit that most diabetes meds don’t have).

I agree though life style improvement is more desirable than medications. When my blood sugars started rising, I followed my own advice, I replaced some of my carbs with vegetables and added an hour of exercise to my day (nothing crazy, I walk during my 15 minute breaks and a half hour over lunch). Doesn’t work for everybody but sugars are now normal and BP/bad cholesterol went down.

Good luck.

There is a long track record of people with lots of letters behind their names being wrong. I don’t tend to trust professionals on soap boxes.

Studies are wrong 5% of the time by design and things are frequently counterintuitive.

Live life in moderation, do the things that are historically healthy, and enjoy life.

I tend to watch the money when a non-professional is also selling a product to go with their theories.

There is that in diabetes and cancer both.

I think it was Reagan that said 'Trust but verify'
