Recent works on the Third Reich have placed more emphasis on the social and political climate that led to the rise of Nazism after defeat in World War One and crippling reparation demands.
Soon after World War Two, Germans clung to the belief that they had been held hostage by a criminal gang led by the charismatic Hitler, bent on conquering Europe and exterminating Jews.

Of course it was a far-left DemonKKKrat behind the Versailles treaty that set up the conditions for WWII. Woodrow Wilson and his commie stooge, William Jennings Bryan, wanted to see a more powerful Soviet Union attain world domination. The dream of DemonKKKrats has always been a "worker's paradise" adhering to the vision of Karl Marx. And now, a century later, we see hussein following the same path as he seeks to enable a worldwide caliphate.
Okay, but once you found yourself at war with the US, the UK, the USSR, and a large part of the rest of the world, you might have to start believing that your leader had miraculous powers. By that point, the alternative would be too grim to contemplate.
Hitler
The idiotic decision to invade the USSR may have cost him the war. He was stale-mated with England and the US might have gone along with a settlement of some kind. He coulda been a winna.
Exceedingly well said, FRiend. They both wish to see America utterly destroyed with a world dominated by satan.
Yup. They were two scorpions in a bottle. The difference between them though is that Germany had at least a thousand years of a system of private ownership of land and capital and a belief in Christianity. The Nazis knew they couldn’t eliminate that entirely so they had to give pretense to all that. The Commies in Russia had a different reality facing them and acted according to the reality they saw.
Yeah well it’s that kind of thinking that led the most industrious and civilized nation in Western Europe to put a war-mongering, antisemitic, shrieking Austrian misanthrope in power and led to a six year cataclysm humanity barely survived.
Yes it did. The draconian economic measures enacted at Versailles led France to begin hauling Germany’s industrial infrastructure out of the Ruhr Valley. Even as it became obvious German’s economy was collapsing, France insisted reparations continue to flow, although the US and England were backing off on their demands.
A desperate people will look for any way out, and Hitler filled that role. At root, I blame France for WWII. And to top it off, the French have never forgiven us for liberating them. De Gaulle was an ungrateful ass.
I agree completely. And if France hadn’t driven Germany into destitution, Adolph’s appeal based on finding scapegoats might never have worked.
"You know, not many people knew it, but the Fuhrer was a terrific dancer. That is because you were taken in by that verdammte Allied propaganda! Such filthy lies! They told lies! But nobody ever said a bad word about Winston Churchill, did they? No! "Win with Winnie!" Churchill! With his cigars, with his brandy. And his ROTTEN painting! Rotten! Hitler, THERE was a painter! He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon! TWO COATS! Churchill. He couldn't even say "Nazi". He would say "Nooooozeeehz, Nooooozeeehz!" It wasn't NOSES, it was NAZIS! Churchill! Let me tell you THIS! And you're hearing this straight from the horse - Hitler was better looking than Churchill. He was a better dresser than Churchill. He had more hair! He told funnier jokes! And he could dance the PANTS off of Churchill!"
The Nazis were Leftists.
...
Some were, some weren’t. Above all they were nationalist and extra-judicial thugs. Hitler put a big dent in the socialist wing by executing many of its leaders (mostly homosexuals) in 1934.
“Spring time for Hitler and Germany!’’ “Winter for Poland and France!’’. This was on tv here today. Great movie.
> As fears about right-wing radicalism in Germany grow due to the refugee crisis, he warns that with a “rougher” political atmosphere, “the potential of a single political figure is a factor which should not be underestimated”.
IOW, the author is an idiot.
