De Gaulle was a pompous opportunist. And as much as I'm not crazy about France(two of my ancestors fought in two world wars for their freedom) the Germans started WW2. Hitler invaded Poland.

I agree completely. And if France hadn’t driven Germany into destitution, Adolph’s appeal based on finding scapegoats might never have worked.
