Sorry, but diabetes cannot be cured. It can be well controlled, but once you have it, you are stuck with it for life. You have to always maintain your weight, eat a healthy diet and exercise. Otherwise, the disease becomes reactivated and complications can develop.

Sarah Hallberg said so, not cured, at the 10:44 time mark.
“It can be well controlled, but once you have it, you are stuck with it for life”
Diabetes is a condition where your fasting and post-prandial blood sugars exceed specified maximum amounts. When excessive carbohydrates and excessive protein have been eliminated from the metabolism and the metabolism has become adapted to using ketones from nutritional ketosis as fuel, many people reduce their blood sugars to less than the maximum which defines a state of Type II Diabetes. When they do so by nutrition and without diabetic medications, they are no longer in a diabetic state. Can they return to a diabetic state? Yes, of course they can. So long as they maintain a state of ketosis, burning fats instead of glucose as the primary source of fuel, they remain non-diabetic without medications as controls.

I’ve always thought that by “cured” they actually mean totally under control. I think they use “cured” as a sales word. There could be deception, though, in that people who are “cured” may think, “Oh, I don’t have to stick myself anymore or spend money on medications.”

Lots of people who have never had diabetes would have to deal with it were they to not maintain their weight and a healthy diet.

I think you hit the nail on the head about Diabetes Type II .

Not true. By definition, if you get your hA1c down to 5.6 or less, you are NOT diabetic and (provided the damage isn’t already done) in all likelihood will not develop the complications of diabetes.
This you can often do through diet and exercise alone. Of course, if you’ve been prescribed meds, such as Metformin, etc., stay on them until your doctor tells you you can quit taking them. But once your weight is down and you’re exercising, and your A1c is within normal bounds, you’re basically home free and can lead a normal life.

Inflammation and Type 2 Diabetes ( 5:09)
Published on Feb 2, 2015
Part 1 of two animations about type 2 diabetes.
Please note: this video has been updated to improve images and sound.
Original video views: 7,968
This animation describes the process of inflammation in type 2 diabetes via a unique structure called the inflammasome.
Over time, this process damages the pancreas, eventually leading to decreased insulin secretion and inability to control blood glucose levels.
Chronic inflammatory 'lifestyle diseases' such as T2D are rapidly increasing in the western world and will pose a huge health burden in future.

Insulin Receptor and Type 2 Diabetes ( 3:58 )
Published on Feb 2, 2015
Part 2 of two animations about type 2 diabetes. This animation describes the role of the insulin receptor in type 2 diabetes.
It focuses on the very recent discovery of how the hormone insulin actually binds to the receptor on the surface of cells, as determined by Professor Mike Lawrence's laboratory at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.
Insulin binds to the receptor protein on the cell surface and instructs the cell to take up glucose from the blood for use as an energy source.
In type 2 diabetes, we believe that insulin binds to the receptor normally, but the signal is not sent into the cell, the cells do not take up glucose and the resulting high blood glucose levels cause organ damage over time.
Understanding how insulin interacts with its receptor is fundamental to the development of novel insulin for the treatment of diabetes.

Why You Got Fat ( 3:05 )
Uploaded on Feb 20, 2009
For decades we've been told gaining and losing weight is all about the calories.
Just one little problem: the research says otherwise.
Diabetics undergo dramatic weight changes when they adjust their insulin levels -- and so do you.
Your diet determines how much insulin your body will produce over time. From the documentary "Fat Head."
