Diabetes is a condition where your fasting and post-prandial blood sugars exceed specified maximum amounts. When excessive carbohydrates and excessive protein have been eliminated from the metabolism and the metabolism has become adapted to using ketones from nutritional ketosis as fuel, many people reduce their blood sugars to less than the maximum which defines a state of Type II Diabetes. When they do so by nutrition and without diabetic medications, they are no longer in a diabetic state. Can they return to a diabetic state? Yes, of course they can. So long as they maintain a state of ketosis, burning fats instead of glucose as the primary source of fuel, they remain non-diabetic without medications as controls.
