Ancient arrowheads reveal the gory practices of Maya 'life force' rituals.

Traces of blood discovered on ancient arrowheads in Guatemala prove the Maya took part in bloody ceremonies to communicate with their gods.

Bloodletting ceremonies involved piercing the earlobes, tongues and even genitals of willing participants and using the spilled blood to 'feed' their deities.

The arrows were collected from five sites in the central American region, including a temple at Zacpetén where it's thought bloodletting ceremonies took place around 500 years ago.

There are reasons some civilizations disappear.

[ But Columbus was evil. The natives were just peace-loving hippies until he came along... ]

The Mayans had already extincted themselves as a culture long before Columbus came, the remnants moved north and heavily influenced the Aztecs who you guessed it performed ritual human sacrifice.

The Aztecs Sucked and so did the Spaniard bastards and the Portuguese Whores as well.

Liberal college professors like to blame English American settlers for ALL the ills of the western hemisphere, but, BUT, the real monsters from Europe where the Spaniards and the Portuguese. They did a hell of a lot more Slaughter and Plundering than English, even in North America as a whole! The French were fairly Brutal too all said.

The English were no angels but they were a hell of a lot better to deal with if you were a native than the other groups.

All cultures are equal!
And on top of that—their bloody pagan descendants are coming here by the millions illegally.

True, and even if the English rulers who oversaw the colonization from afar where not much better than the Spanish or Portuguese rulers, there was a big difference over here, on the ground based on how the colonization was managed. The Spanish and Portuguese mostly expanded their sphere with the military, the militant religious orders, and state-directed mercantile operations. Settling was almost an afterthought, with a lot of the European settlers being ex-convicts who had been sent to penal colonies in the new world.

The English on the other hand, left most of the colonization to more privately-directed entitities, who had state approval and support, but were more independent. So they ended up with a lot of smaller religious communities who lived by self-imposed moral codes populating their holdings, instead of soldiers, slavers, priests, and criminals.

I agree. There is fair blame to go around for everyone. Leftists are cowards, and it’s easy to blame western culture and not get your head chopped off.

Our culture is clearly inferior; Mayan transportation was much more sustainable.

Nothing has changed much, they are still killing each other and making blood sacrifices, not with arrows, with fully automatic weapons in drive by chootings.

Ancient man used animal parts to make glue and used the blood of animals for making glue also. The glue is used on the arrowheads to help hold in place along with sinew bindings. Modern day flintknappers call it bunny glue but it can be made from any animal.

Blood based glues are also used in the plywood industry.

On our archaeology listserver, it was observed that the level of knapping skill revealed in those pictured "arrowheads" is about on a par with the modern "tourist junk" points cranked out in Mexico for sale all over the Southwest for a quarter apiece.

I know for a fact that my son could pressure-flake at least that well when he was in middle school... But, the real telltale is that the bases aren't adequately thinned for hafting -- and obsidian is absurdly easy to flake...

OTOH, the Maya were flintknapping masters. So far, not buying it...
