“Can I get an “Amen” brothers and sisters.”
Amen.
No one, other than the perp was hurt. A good shoot from a pastor who probably does put in some range time.
In Fla. the statute states in part: presumption of fear of death OR “great bodily harm”.
Although I do not know the Michigan law I’d say a brick does qualify as fear of great bodily harm.
Got to love a Preacher who defends his flock!
Michigan is pretty much the same as Florida in respect to standing your ground and you can use deadly force to protect yourself or others.
Soon they will make even bigger boards with bigger nails.

You ever been bashed in the head with a brick?
I don’t. My church has a lot of small kids in it. Some of them are my kids. A grown man with a brick could make quick work on them before anyone could stop him.
Thanks for the info cripplecreek. Well then, looks like an open and shut case. The Rev sounds like a true Sheppard of his flock. Been considering CCW at my Church, I think I’ll go ahead and do so from now on.
Thou hath been delivered.....amen.
Remember the Show Hank Hill loved. “The Monsignor”
“Vaya Con Dios”
Maybe the fellow with the brick demanded to speak directly with the manager. Now he has that chance.
Overkill? Absolutely not. The Pastor is the shepherd of his flock and is responsible for their safety from harm. How many able bodied men are in church services these days in proportion to women, children and elderly? I would guess for every strong man there are 10 congregants that need protection.
Only that it took four or five shots to stop the perp.
Expect more and more of this. I feel for any Muslims that come through our doors yelling allah, allah, allah ackbar looking for trouble. Our pastor and half the congregation are packing. We also have weapons secreted throughout the building. Prior to the Muslim President we never did this type of thing...
UP here in the UP of MI, many churches regardless of denomination have meet recently and many have asked parishioners whom have the appropriate permits to carry a firearm to do so. there has even been a classification of words to used from the pulpit that will activate those whom are armed to go into action. It is a plan of action in the three parishes that I serve in and a number of other churches that I am familiar with.
Look at your church during the sermon, worship, and prayer, - everyone is facing forward looking at the front of the church sanctuary. The main door as behind everyone, and the church doors are open (unlocked). The Pastor is there in the front and sees whom walks in. Worst case scenario a bloodbath would ensue. Best case at least strive to take out the perpetrator or perpetrators.
Generally a church is a soft target - large gathering of like minded individuals, with a unlocked door, and a limited means to see whom enters. A pew cannot protect a parishioner from a bullet.
In this case I strongly believe the pastor was warranted to shoot the man
considering that he may have been standing near church family members and the fact that ot takes a mere second to smash someone's skull in, NO. Better to remove one threat than to have several dead bodies because you failed to act.
