In Fla. the statute states in part: presumption of fear of death OR “great bodily harm”.

Although I do not know the Michigan law I’d say a brick does qualify as fear of great bodily harm.

Michigan is pretty much the same as Florida in respect to standing your ground and you can use deadly force to protect yourself or others.
