That lasted exactly one year.
Hallowe'en is a Satanic celebration of the macabre, especially THESE days with gore and the like being so popular (zombies and many et cetera's)
Somewhere around the '70's, the "razor-blade-in-the-apple" scare took hold and millions of taxpayer paid for advertizing dollars were made by the producers warning us about evil people ....
Stupid America bought into that
Each year, different, or same-thing-only-different scares would crop up and eventually laws and ordinances were enacted where kids begged for candy in broad daylight, accompanyed by doting parents not much out of the hallowe'en scene themselves .... but the scare and gore remained in the costumes.
This airing of a "complaint" by someone about a realistic display is the epitome of how mad America has become
I personally think the display is Satanic and obscene .... but WalMart sells costumes of Satanic and obscene all season long .... what's the problem ?
The owners of the house and display evidence a courage becoming an American ....
YOU like this stuff
YOU push it on our kids and community
YOU promotee it in public school (But Jesus is not allowed)
YOU see nothing wrong with gore and horror ...
So WE decided to display some pretty good in-your-face CGI and you call the community cops on me ?
No .... no .... I don't think I WILL take it down.
I've posted this because I think an intelligent conversation may develop from it
Halloween is all about getting free candy.
Nothing is more important to a kid. When s/he turns 12-13 .... things change.
I have a different view of Halloween, but that is of no matter, really. I respect others’ distrust/dislike of it actually.
I don’t do Halloween anymore because of what it became in my subdivision in my small town. 12 years ago, we got mostly the little Princesses and Batmans from our sub division. Very young, many out just before dark with their mommies AND daddies. Very respectful, not greedy and happy children.
This quickly turned into an entitlement grab from parents all over the county who’d jam the subdivision. It got so bad the police and fire department had to station themselves at the entrance and regulate traffic and entry and patrol throughout the night.
At first I didn’t mind the indigenous county residents who didn’t have anywhere to take their kids - what I DID and DO mind is all the illegals and other immigrants who give their kids a pillow case and send them out to get their freebies. They increased in number year by year until it is just another invasion of illegals. No costume, no speaking, no Thank You. I stopped two years ago altogether. I turn out my lights and let them pass by.
I’m thinking of this year of just having some candy for the neighborhood small fries the hour before sunset and then packing up lights out. I really liked Halloween as a kid - great memories. I still want young Americans to have an opportunity for that because so much is and will be taken away from them in the name of diversity, inclusion, one-worldism, etc.
Now, Halloween is the "gay" Christmas. If isn't already by you it will soon be.
I have discussed Halloween with a number of good Christian pastors and they uniformly believe that it has its origins as a pagan, anti-Christian holiday.
I would encourage anyone to do a search on the origins of Halloween. If you are a Christian, you should not participate in Halloween in any way.
When I was a kid, Halloween was just for children. We went out with our trick-or-treat bags dressed as brides, ghosts, cowboys and cowgirls (with cap pistols!), ballerinas...
All the neighborhood houses had candy to give, and sometimes even caramel apples or popcorn balls.
Nowadays, you would never let your kids eat a home-made treat. We give out little plastic toys because we don’t want to be sued if Little Snowflake has an allergic reaction to some candy that their parents haven’t taken the time to remove from their haul. Kids are treated to the sight of their parents heading out for a drinking binge with Mom dressed as a slutty nurse and Dad dressed as a woman.
An innocent holiday has been coarsened and, in my opinion, ruined.
Used to be a “once a year” indulgence in the dark side of the human psyche. Or maybe an occasional eerie Vincent Price or Hammer film. Now it’s a whole industry of sadism that runs 24/7/365
It has morphed from little kids in cute costumes going through the neighborhood in search of some candy into a pagan death festival that celebrates the demonic and evil - and it is adults who are acting this way.
If people cannot recognize the Satanic when it is right in front of them, then they should be called what they are: blind fools.
Halloween is a subject of controversy in the US Orthodox Church.
Since I am an “extremist”, I say NO to Halloween, especially with the emphasis on the demonic and on gore in Halloween 2015!!!!
The there is the increasing takeover of the calendar by the “gay” lobby. You know—”pride” week, “pride” month, AIDS Day, “spirit” day, “day of silence”, etc. Now they have some new excuse to take over October, whatever that is. Halloween has ALWAYS—in living memory, been a “gay” day. I say let the “gays” have it, and let Christians leave it alone!!!!
Halloween has always been about the demonic, really! In the Western Church, there is All Saints Day to try to counteract it. But in America 2015, that does not work! The Eastern Orthodox Church has a different day for All Saints, which has NOTHING to do with Halloween whatsoever!!!!
The Orthodox Church has many feast days throughout the year. And we focus on kids at least one Sunday in September or October with the opening of Church School. So let’s leave Halloween alone!!!!
This year when any teens with no costume show up I will be dropping condiments from various fast food places in their bags. I also have a bunch of pecans to get rid of.
The sad fact is that we don’t have any “holidays” that haven’t been corrupted to some extent by the purely secular and pagan influence. Even the true meaning of Christmas has been all but drowned in our society by the commercial, the mercenary and materialistic society in which we live. The same goes for Easter with it’s bunnies and eggs that overshadow the real glorious meaning of it.
Satan is a master planner. It takes decades and generations to lull a society to sleep and dull it’s perceptions of what is good versus what isn’t.
You’re so right about what you say. I don’t “do” Halloween either but my kids and grandkids do. They’re not allowed to go out but they have a party at church where goulish costumes aren’t allowed. Still, the concept; in my opinion, has no place in a house of worship.
The “generation of vipers” spoken of in Scripture most likely doesn’t arise out of thin air. It will take decades of subtle(Satan’s specialty) insinuation and brainwashing by the media and society to produce them. How close are we, I wonder. Given the atmosphere of current events: I think we’re pretty far along.
Sorry but you sound like a Liberal.
There were baby sacrifices going on during Halloween in our region in the 1980s. Mothers would not notify the hospitals they were pregnant, so the births were not registered. The whole thing was kept hush, hush. Horrible.
(The legal arm of baby sacrifices are still being performed through Planned Parenthood.)
I imagine that once the word got out in your neighborhood, on what you were giving out, that you werent exactly encouraging any kids to your door to get their apple, toothbrush and their anti-hallowe'en gospel tract in brown paper lunch bag .
BTW - what is your take on Santa Claus? Do you go to your local mall and hand out gospel tracts to the little kids waiting in line, telling them that Santa = Satan?
What about the evil Thanksgiving that has its earliest roots in ancient pagan harvest festivals?
Holloween’s true colors have come to light. I hate it.
I’ve posted this because I think an intelligent conversation may develop from it....
Guess you’re disappointed.
How to speak Activist
What they say: "We want to start a dialog." (or in this case "have an intelligent conversation")
What it really means: "Shut up and let your betters lecture you."
Yep.
Fits no matter what side of a debate you are on.
Do you think anyone will be allowed to post a counter argument without being called evil?
Halloween is only grotesque because Christians have surrendered it as a Christian holiday, part of Allhallowtide.
The Allhallowtide triduum encompasses the Western Christian observances of All Hallows’ Eve (Hallowe’en), All Saints’ Day (All Hallows’ or Hallowmass) and All Souls’ Day, which last from October 31 to November 2.
It helps to think of it in the manner of the early Christians, who traditionally believed that the veil between the material world and the afterlife thinned on the evening before All Saints’ Day.
Here, the Christian traditions varied. In some places, in order to prevent recognition by a soul, causing them distress, “people would don masks or costumes to disguise their identities.” In medieval Poland, believers were taught to pray out loud as they walk through the forests in order that the souls of the dead might find comfort.
The Christian Church traditionally observed Hallowe’en through a vigil “when worshippers would prepare themselves with prayers and fasting prior to the feast day itself.” This church service is known as the Vigil of All Hallows or the Vigil of All Saints. After the service, “suitable festivities and entertainments” often follow, as well as a visit to the graveyard or cemetery, where flowers and candles are often placed in preparation for All Saints’ Day (All Hallows). This is mostly known to Americans through events like the Mexican “Day of the Dead”, to remember and honor deceased family members in cemeteries.
All Saints’ Day is a holy day to honour all the Christian saints and martyrs, both known and unknown. All Hallows is a universal Christian holy day and feast to honor those who were most righteous as Christians.
The final day of Allsaintstide is known as All Souls’ Day, and is also called the Commemoration of All Faithful Departed. All Souls’ Day focuses on honouring all faithful Christians “who are unknown in the wider fellowship of the church, especially family members and friends.”
Put it all together in a respectful manner, and it is a beautiful Christian holiday season.
However, when ignored, it can and does become hideous and grotesque, far more pagan than Christian. People using the “thinning of the veil” to try and summon forth evil and demonic beings and forces, witchcraft and vice.
Christians need to overcome this not by ignoring it, but by restoring it to its rightful place in their traditions.
We live out in the boonies, down a long dead-end road,
down a long, spooky driveway. I don’t let husband weedeat
the “weeds” on the sides of the driveway. We’ve never had
a spook on Halloween in the 30 yrs. we’ve been here. We
turn off the lights and pull down the shades on
Halloween. I get a little bit of individually wrapped
candy before Halloween; then we have it left after
Halloween and eat it ourselves. I don’t like all the
stuff surrounding Halloween.
The candy and pumpkins are OK and fun for kids. Some people go too far with the graves and corpses on the front lawn.
It no longer has anything to do with the Christian holy day.
You must be really fun at parties.
I have fond memories of Halloween. When my kids were little, we used to go to the pumpkin patch and pick out pumpkins. We'd carve faces in them and roast the seeds. Then we'd put them out on the door step with candles in them to illuminate the faces. Fun stuff.
I'd always play Bach's organ music for when people came to the door, usually the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, and hand out copious amounts of candy, always of course, keeping some put aside for us to munch on later.
Halloween was always for me the transition between autumn and early winter. Come November 1, thoughts would immediately turn to Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'd winterize the yard, stack my firewood and put up the storm windows.
When I was a boy, I never got into halloween costumes. Too much fuss for me. So at the last minute, I'd take an old sheet, cut holes in it for eyes, and head out there with a pillowcase. I lived in a densely populated neighborhood so within a few blocks, I would fill two or three pillowcases full of candy - most of which I hid from my mother and the hoard would last me for weeks.
Totally harmless and fun holiday. Any attempts to tie it to some sort of satanic celebration is utterly silly. I mean, Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. C'mon. How satanic is that?
BTW, the "razor-blade-in-apple" was just a schoolyard scare. Never happened. It's what we would call today an "urban myth."
Besides, if anybody gave me an apple for Halloween, I'd toss it. It was the candy I was after.
