I have been antagonistic against Hallowe'en since I was born again in 1981 ...
That lasted exactly one year.
Hallowe'en is a Satanic celebration of the macabre, especially THESE days with gore and the like being so popular (zombies and many et cetera's)
Somewhere around the '70's, the "razor-blade-in-the-apple" scare took hold and millions of taxpayer paid for advertizing dollars were made by the producers warning us about evil people ....
Stupid America bought into that
Each year, different, or same-thing-only-different scares would crop up and eventually laws and ordinances were enacted where kids begged for candy in broad daylight, accompanyed by doting parents not much out of the hallowe'en scene themselves .... but the scare and gore remained in the costumes.
This airing of a "complaint" by someone about a realistic display is the epitome of how mad America has become
I personally think the display is Satanic and obscene .... but WalMart sells costumes of Satanic and obscene all season long .... what's the problem ?
The owners of the house and display evidence a courage becoming an American ....

Halloween is all about getting free candy.
Nothing is more important to a kid. When s/he turns 12-13 .... things change.

I have a different view of Halloween, but that is of no matter, really. I respect others’ distrust/dislike of it actually.
I don’t do Halloween anymore because of what it became in my subdivision in my small town. 12 years ago, we got mostly the little Princesses and Batmans from our sub division. Very young, many out just before dark with their mommies AND daddies. Very respectful, not greedy and happy children.
This quickly turned into an entitlement grab from parents all over the county who’d jam the subdivision. It got so bad the police and fire department had to station themselves at the entrance and regulate traffic and entry and patrol throughout the night.
At first I didn’t mind the indigenous county residents who didn’t have anywhere to take their kids - what I DID and DO mind is all the illegals and other immigrants who give their kids a pillow case and send them out to get their freebies. They increased in number year by year until it is just another invasion of illegals. No costume, no speaking, no Thank You. I stopped two years ago altogether. I turn out my lights and let them pass by.
I’m thinking of this year of just having some candy for the neighborhood small fries the hour before sunset and then packing up lights out. I really liked Halloween as a kid - great memories. I still want young Americans to have an opportunity for that because so much is and will be taken away from them in the name of diversity, inclusion, one-worldism, etc.

Now, Halloween is the "gay" Christmas. If isn't already by you it will soon be.
Same in our development. The worst is parents with their tiny babies who aren’t even on solid food yet. They have plenty of places to go here in the downtown area that hosts all sort of freebies for kids. Personally, I don’t care for the loads of strangers wandering around my neighborhood at night. The vast majority of them non English speaking...ie) illegal Mexicans.
Okay, I'll bite. For a few years not too long after being born again, our family aggressively did not participate in Halloween. But after we got over our pharisaical pride, we realized that it was not a very good witness frankly. Do not think it is what Jesus would have done.
It is not a requirement that we celebrate nor condemn. Nowadays, the old trick or treat model has almost given way to private parties all over the place anyway. We'll keep a little candy around for any potential trick or treaters.
I have discussed Halloween with a number of good Christian pastors and they uniformly believe that it has its origins as a pagan, anti-Christian holiday.
I would encourage anyone to do a search on the origins of Halloween. If you are a Christian, you should not participate in Halloween in any way.
I’ve heard that parents “bus” kiddies to richer neighborhoods than their own - middle class parents, not poor people which I could almost understand. Not nice. To me, Halloween is about growing a child’s imagination - letting them role play a hero or villain. One of our last holdovers from the medieval age - like the Lord’s Misrule.
I loathe the gore that has become associated with it but most of the kiddies I get are very young and all dress up as princesses and pirates, thank God.
With that said, some of what Halloween does crosses the line, but good parents guide their children away from that element.
Christmas is now (Winter Break), and Easter has become (Spring Break) .... Halloween is candy.
But instead of buying a costume.....it should be mandatory to DIY. Especially if you’re a kid.
Bingo. As kids, it was the one day a year where we were allowed scarf down candy to the point of being bilious. A glorious, if slightly nauseating, indulgence.
When I was a kid, Halloween was just for children. We went out with our trick-or-treat bags dressed as brides, ghosts, cowboys and cowgirls (with cap pistols!), ballerinas...
All the neighborhood houses had candy to give, and sometimes even caramel apples or popcorn balls.
Nowadays, you would never let your kids eat a home-made treat. We give out little plastic toys because we don’t want to be sued if Little Snowflake has an allergic reaction to some candy that their parents haven’t taken the time to remove from their haul. Kids are treated to the sight of their parents heading out for a drinking binge with Mom dressed as a slutty nurse and Dad dressed as a woman.
An innocent holiday has been coarsened and, in my opinion, ruined.
If you have Anglo-Celtic-Nordic ancestry like a good bit of us here, that pretty much sums our people up 1500+ years ago. I guess those people were damned in hell fire?
If you were careful .... and you didn’t overindulge....you could make that candy *last* until the Easter bunny brought a candy basket.

In Parochial school...we prayed for those souls in purgatory ...and Mass was mandatory on All Saints [Nov 1st] and strongly encouraged on All Souls Day.
