*****I want to see you stand in fronts of a billion or so Muslims and tell hem we are at war with all of them...*****
It is one thing to recognize that there are Muslims who are not terrorists (secular muslims). It is entirely another thing to go out of your way to kiss every Muslim ass on the planet and tell them their religion is just peachy fine and as good as, if not better than, Christianity or Judaism.
If the following quotes are representative of Bush’s attitude towards Muslims after 911, then I think it shows that he had his head firmly planted in the sand before 911.
PRESIDENT BUSH’S QUOTES ON ISLAM
In the Presidents Words: Respecting Islam
The United States is a nation dedicated to religious tolerance and freedom, and President Bush has acted to ensure that the world’s Muslims know that America appreciates and celebrates the traditions of Islam.

And gifts of food and clothing and money are distributed to ensure that all share in God’s abundance. Muslims often invite members of other families to their evening iftar meals, demonstrating a spirit of tolerance.”

I have a hope for the people of Muslim countries. Your commitments to morality, and learning, and tolerance led to great historical achievements. And those values are alive in the Islamic world today. You have a rich culture, and you share the aspirations of men and women in every culture. Nice try except Bush did not enforce the immigration laws Congress passed and amnesty was never what the people wanted. Bush was much closer to Obama on immigration and other things than I could ever be.
Well, the guy isn’t perfect .. and I guess that tells us neither are we.
I never agreed with GW on that assessment of Islam .. and I never will.
I won’t take your word for it ....find something that validates your assertion...and not just some other idiots opinion

Good response. ;>)
You obviously do not understand diplomatic speech ...Its a matter of common sense to assert that Muslims are peaceful and good people and maybe it is just wishful thinking but you need to separate peace loving Muslims from radical jihadists if you are going to go to war with jihadists.
That is the kind of thing diplomats and politicians and Presidents say.
Why not you ask the brave Mr Trump if Muslims are peaceful or not.
I’ll eat my hat if he says “You know they are a bunch of violent thugs.”
OReilly asked Trump whether there is a Muslim problem in the world.
Absolutely, absolutely I dont notice Swedish people knocking down the World Trade Center, Trump said. I came out very strongly against the mosque being built virtually across the street.
The fact is, it was so insensitive when they announced the mosque in that location, he said. Dont forget, thats my territory Manhattan. When they announced the mosque in that location, I couldnt believe it.
Trump said although there is a world Muslim problem, it does not reflect on all Muslims.
And thats the sad part about life, because you have fabulous Muslims I know many Muslims, and they are fabulous people, theyre smart, theyre industrious, he said. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, there is a Muslim problem in the world.
When did GWB ever say anything even closely resembling that statement?
GWB insisted that Islam is a peaceful religion, when in fact throughout it's entire history Islam has been anything but peaceful.
Take my word for what? The scum who did 9-11 were mostly illegally here. Bush did not do common sense things like go after illegals as he should have or aggressively secure the border after that event and our border is still insecure today. That is just fact. Bush did go into Afghanistan and he did say later that getting the guy behind 9-11 was relatively unportant which I think was a stupid thing to say. Bush did use 9-11 as an excuse to stand up a giant domestic spying apparatus that Obama is now going to use against “domestic terrorists” like us. I don’t blame Bush for 9-11 but I also don’t think he really did much to make our country more secure either. I think he could and should have at least secured our border while we are at war. That seems like common sense to me. Perhaps I expect too much.
From Google :
Under Bush, the majority of immigrants that the U.S. sent home were simply returned. Nobody took their fingerprints or put a permanent mark on their immigration records. Instead, U.S. authorities put them on buses and sent them back across the border. Between 2001 and 2008, there were over 8.3 million of these informal returns, according to the Department of Homeland Security. There were, by contrast, just 2 million removals. Those are the more formal deportationsthe ones that go through some form of individual review, with an officer if not a judge, and become part of deportees permanent records.
But in the second half of the Bush administration, DHS decided to up the number of removals and limit the number of returns. The government hoped to deter immigrants from sneaking back into the country by making it clear that the U.S. knew who they wereand could punish them more harshly if they showed up again. Under Obama, DHS has stuck with this policy. Between 2009 and 2012, the number of deportations and informal returns was roughly the sameabout 1.6 million each. Add up all the relevant numbers, youll see removals are on track to end up higher under Obama than Bush (Linds point in Vox) but that removals plus returns will end up higher under Bush than Obama (Davis point in The Federalist).
My assertion? Bush did aggressively push amnesty. Why don’t you try googling “see you at the bill signing”? You Bushbots sure do like calling people names, don’t you?
Bush also declared WAR on terrorists .....but I guess that doesn’t count
And the border fence was never completed? That seems like a no brained if you actually want to stop the illegals, doesn’t it. Bush should have pushed for it in 2001 but he did not. Ever wonder why that is?
And his Department of Homeland Security decided that right wing Christians were more of a terrorist threat than fundamentalist Muslims.
I know exactly what he did....How? Because he was honest about it ...he had a different take on the situation than you do and he fought for what he thought was good. He lost the fight and went on to do some of the stuff you are asking for.... It was clear as day
That is politics at its finest
but you want to twist it into something it is not...
Im sorry I have been on FR for a while now and I see a marked decline in peoples understanding of even basic stuff.
I don’t think you guys who hate Bush or love Trump are right.....But we will see won’t we.
>> “I wanted to be nice & did not mention the WTC came down during his watch, 9/11.”
A well-crafted salvo.
... and that is not to say Dubya was responsible for 9-11.
Seriously?
Did I somehow log in to DU?
>> The scum who did 9-11 were mostly illegally here. Bush did not do common sense things like go after illegals as he should have...
The scum who did 9-11 were mostly Islamic, not Mexican.
That’s kinda stupid.
