The District of Columbia's congresswoman on Thursday introduced a bill to strip the NFL of its federal antitrust protection as long as it allows Washington's football team to use the name "Redskins," a moniker some see as racist.
Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton said the National Football League and Washington's football team "should not be benefitting financially from federal antitrust exemptions while they continue to promote a disparaging moniker that has been found by legal authorities to be a racial slur."
A federal judge in July upheld an earlier decision by the United States Patent and Trademark Office that the name is "disparaging to Native Americans" and is thus ineligible for federal trademark registration.

“District of Columbia’s congresswoman” - since when?
The last time I looked the District had an observer, not full pledged voting representative. A quick trip to Wikipedia confirms that the District has NO REPRESENTATION in the House or Senate. For years District residents had a phrase to describe their “plight” - “Taxation without Representation”
So, who really introduced this legislation? Or, if the “District of Columbia’s congresswoman” did so, how?
The Constitution has never allowed the District to have seat in either house of Congress - something about a self-basting turkey comes to mind.

Because God knows Congress has nothing more important to spend their time on than the name of the Washington freakin' Redskins.
I would reply, “I’d be willing to change the name of my team if the House of Representatives would change its name to “The United States House of Idiots.”

I seem to recall something about a terrorist country that hates America attempting to get nukes... Or was it something about a failed healthcare plan hurting US families... No, maybe it was global threat of islamic terrorism, our religious freedom being hindered, the stagnant economy, a growing racial divide?

My God - we have a Senate willing to sell us out to the enemy, taking in 10,000 Muslim refugees, people pouring over our southern border, 93 million Americans out of work and they care about the name of an NFL team?

I read that there was no such thing as bad publicity as long as they spelled your name right. So all those movies about the mean, bad Injuns simply reinforced the fact that the American Indian is still with us, but not for long if the PC crowd has their way!
