Earlier this week Steve Deace wrote an excellent Washington Times column suggesting that conservatives face a fundamental choice when confronted with the 17-person GOP presidential field and the emergence of Donald Trump as the leader in the polls. Deace said the choice is whether conservatives are going to make their peace with Trump as the standard-bearer for the movement despite his various deficiencies and lack of conservative pedigree, or to consolidate their support behind another candidate in the race.
Deace has endorsed Ted Cruz as that candidate, and Ill admit in an element of full disclosure (as readers of this column have doubtless surmised by now) that Im moving in the same direction.
But since its still early enough to speculate, and since during the current silly season the idea of Trump as the GOP standard bearer is a little more entertaining and ripe for spitballing than the idea of Cruz (yes, its also a good deal more terrifying), in this piece well go the opposite direction and discuss how The Donald might entice the conservatives to which Deace is referring aboard his bandwagon.

That isn’t the title of the article.
Personally, I think a lot of America has gotten the taste of ‘Dead Political Class’ Blood and like it. A lot!!!
Here’s how Donald Trump closes the sale with conservatives:

And it’s 100% real because it started well before there was ever talk of him running for President and it has continued consistently over the decades.
Speaking just to the title, he’ll be missing the deal and failing afterward even if he wins, if he does not take a good studios course on the constitution
And he would have to humble himself to it
If not he will be scary to conservatives, many of whom won’t even know why they don’t like him
If he could do that he’d be a Reagan. He’s just not there
Oh, because that’s the law of the land. Tge president primarily protects and defends the constitution. Everything else Is gravy
Good article, good proposal.
So, the advice is for Trump to engage in the most deceptive form of sophistry and manipulation.
“Vote for Donald and all your wildest dreams will come true!”
Hah.
Trump will never make a deal with me.
He thinks that the arbitrary, immoral, illicit opinions of judges are the law of the land.
That’s a coup d’etat against our Constitution and the American republican form of self-government.
I’m not supporting that, ever.
Why are so many people falling for this pseudo-conservative?
He has said these things in so many words. He has said he gave money to Democrats because he was in a Democrat city. I really see him as a person who will get the job done right-of-center, but not extremist threocratically, when he has the freedom and mandate to do the job. And he will definitely make common cause with conservatives. He is a wealthy, manifestly hetrosexual family man. I don’t see him “Identifying” with the babykillers or gender-benders to the point of believing their needs are of massive political importance as the Democrats do. He is also not going to be soft on crime. And he places very high value on a strong military and a defensive foreign policy. That’s conservative enough for me.
So you feel our economy is now solid and the illegal Mexican invasion has been stopped?
stanne, i agree to a point, however if he should choose Cruz as his running mate that little constitutional thing will be handled in no time. many of us know this.
I’m thinking about how Cruz is so valuable in the senate but your view is very interesting
A VP historically does nothing. Trump could bust that mold too, using Cruz as an advisor. Well Cheney certainly was that
And what does Cruz owe the senate. They’ve been treating him the way the country treats military vets - ‘thanks for your loyalty, now we have bribes to take, quit making us look bad and get out’
Hmm
Lord’s usually better than this.
Trump’s leading among conservatives, roo, and he’ll roll out his economic plan soon.
Agreed.
it’s the title and subtitle:
The Trump Transaction
How the author of The Art of the Deal can close the sale with conservatives.
By Scott McKay â 9.3.15
The Admin Moderator fixed it. It wasn’t at first.
Well said. Back in 2008, FReeper Grampa Dave perhaps said it best:If Hiterily gets elected with enough votes in Congress, these will be the good old days.
The purists, who will stay at home because our candidate couldn't walk on water without getting the soles of his Teva's wet will have gifted us with another Clintoon pillaging. *
