CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Just when you thought you had gotten over last winter, be warned: The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts it will be super cold with a slew of snow for much of the country, even in places that don't usually see too much of it, like the Pacific Northwest.
If you don't want to read about those four-letter words, there's plenty more to peruse in the folksy, annual book of household tips, trends, recipes and articles, such as animal jealousy, the history of shoes and anticipation for the biggest Supermoon in decades in November 2016.

The height of skunk cabbage.
Guess I’ll hold on to the 4-wheel drive another year.
I predict with 100% accuracy that regardless of what kind of winter we have it will be blamed on global warming / climate change.

I came across this pictorial at DailyMail, spuriously-referencing a trend there in Scotland, and found the other articles for clarity.
Scotland's winter snow STILL hasn't melted: Incredible network of tunnels and caves clings to mountains after the cold summer
Looks like glaciers now forming in the Scottish mountains.
It was autumn, and members of a Native American tribe asked their new Chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a new Chief in a modern society and had never been taught the old secrets of Nature, he looked up at the sky and had no clue what to do. To play it safe, he replied to his tribe that the winter could definitely be cold and that they should collect firewood early, just to be prepared. So, the members began gathering wood.
Being a practical leader, he figured he should also use the resources available to the modern society. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, “Will this winter be cold?”
“As of now, it looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,” the forecaster said. So the Chief went back to his tribe and told them to collect even more wood. A week later he called the National Weather Service again and asked for an update.
“Yes,” the man at National Weather Service again replied, “based on incoming data, this winter is looking to be colder than we expected.” The Chief was surprised, but again went back to his tribe, told them that this might be a very cold winter, and asked them to collect every scrap of wood they could find.
One week later, the Chief called the National Weather Service yet again, hoping for a new answer. “Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?”
“Positive,” the man replied. “It’s going to be one of the coldest winters ever.” “Really?” the shocked Chief exclaimed. “How can you be so sure?” The forecaster replied, “The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy.”
Wow! Thanks for that pic.

Another true story (wink). Every day a factory work on the way to work stopped by the clock store and set his watch and then finished his walk to work where he blew the whistle for the factory. One day the clock store owner said, Why do you stop by my store every morning? The factory worker said, I use your clocks to set the whistle at the factory. The owner said, That’s funny. I set all my clocks to the factory whistle.
Thank you for the excellent article.

Evil people run California politics and will pay a dreadful penalty in the next life.
Thank you, thank you, for linking that article by the CA congressman. I did not know this. It makes perfect sense. Everyone in CA needs to read his link.

Snow in the northeast?? I thought palm trees will be there by 2016, according to some nutcase who said that is the late ‘80s.
My son lives on the north side of Dallas. Saw a large flock of Canadian geese yesterday. Tey are already migrating south.
I would trust it over all the climate change models. How about this; somebody does a study on the relative accuracy of the Farmer’s Almanac vs Climate Change Models?
