Plus besides for the fact that there is a super El Nino forming, there is something even more significant.

A large mass of much warmer than expected sea water off the coast of Washington/Oregon. And we are talking like 5 degrees warmer than usual and a third or even half the size of Conus.

Now this is expected to bring warmer, drier weather to NW United States this year. But a high pressure system that big, in that place, will set the eastern US up for a killer polar vortex!
