With all of that automation, they still sent me the wrong book this week. At least I get a refund even though I have to drive to the UPS store today to send the wrong one back.

Over many years of using Amazon, I’ve only had one problem, when I was sent a cheap knockoff of the authentic item I’d ordered. I think it’s truly an amazing outfit, and saves us a lot of money and time.

I also had to return a wrong item in early July (laptop battery). Again, they gave a refund, but it is still spending $5 for a trip to the UPS store and back.

I was amazed at how effortlessly that robot arm (1:35) lifted that pallet of boxes, that must have weighed hundreds of pounds, like it was full of feathers.

Must watch”

Excellent video. I have thinking about this trend myself and trying to imagine what the outcome will be.

I might have had one problem and it was years ago and minor.

I am guessing you are in the town of Amazon's BIGGEST center in Kentucky, right? As you probably know, they have a lot of regional sub-centers including one in suburban Pittsburgh, PA, which are hardly known.

We got a delivery one day from a gal in a private car who told us the sub center used a lot of part-timers like her . . . very ideal for a Mom with school children who had hours free during the day when her kids are in school.

They seem to be very smart about using available labor like this.

The scale of that warehouse is amazing. There is one shot in the video where a large robotic arm is operating and you can see the warehouse just seems to extend out to the horizon.

Well, I think Kirkwood has a point. I’ve had to return a couple of things, mainly clothes or shoes that didn’t fit right. But I work in a place that gets UPS delivery almost every day, and all I have to do is slap the label on, and hand it to the driver. It would be different if I had to drive to the UPS storefront.

But all in all, I think it’s been a great thing for a lot of people. I especially appreciate buying heavy things, like feed for my pets, and not having to pay for shipping by weight.

We’ve decided not to buy clothing this way, unless we’ve already worn that brand, and know that the size will be right.
