Had the same issue today.
First time.
Running windows 8 with IE.
Not sure where it’s coming from.

I always turn off javascript before visiting Drudge. It stops the banner ads and stops that annoying three-times-a-minute page reload.
Wake up, Matt Drudge, your site has too many intrusive gimmicks.

I don’t see it. I’ve had Drudge as my home page going on 20 years. It’s as clean and stable as it was in 1996. I run Chrome as a browser with the ad blocker add-ons.
To: UnwashedPeasant
Thanks for that. Installed Adblock Plus on my iPad and went to the crappiest site on the web for a test - the Blaze. Nicely done!

With that being said, WND has really cleaned their act up. Now if they could only report more credible news and less news from 2 years ago.

It’s a useless list of links to tabloid garbage that appeals solely to cults of personality anyway.

I actually found Free Republic from Drudge’s site. I think the link was titled Whitewater Files back then, or something along that line. I still hit Drudge first thing in the morning, and then periodically throughout the day.

Its poorly coded advertising
I think you are right.
Temporary issue for Drudge I’m sure.
I hope.

Yet he has survived for 20 years without a “wake up” along with all his supposed “gimmicks” ... go figure.

Its a useless list of links to tabloid garbage that appeals solely to cults of personality anyway. Why it's all the news that's fit to be printed.
It's everything that anybody could possibly want.

I had a banner earlier today when visiting Drudge. I tried to dismiss it and it eouldn’t go away. I’m closed the page shortly after that. It won’t stop me from occasionally visiting. However, I won’t click thru on the ads.
To: Dick Vomer
I didn’t get the banner but I get many fewer of those things since I got a third party ad blocker.

To be more clear about that, I’m more analytical and tend to read beyond headlines, names of celebrities and what candidates say about themselves in public speech. I do look at the Drudge Report and U.K. news sites at times but find their misleading headlines, exaggerations, news of horrible, isolated incidents thousands of miles away, dishonest associations between personalities and other manipulative tendencies to be annoying. Quotations and evidenced facts are more desirable.

I also use AdBlock Plus and YesScript to deny them the satisfaction of profiting from outrageous levels of sensationalism.
