I went to the Drudge Report web site and this large green banner that wanted me to sign a petition was covering the bottom 1/5 of the screen. I couldn't get it to close when I clicked on the "X" and even when I went to the site the banner was linked to it wouldn't get off the screen. Anybody else with this problem?

Haven't visited his site directly in years-too many ads-but I do follow him on Twitter.
What type of petition was it?

Yeah I saw it too and it won’t let you close it. Drudge needs to wake up. His site is getting closer to becoming like Breitbart. Unusable.

I don’t have that problem. My problem sites are townhall.com and dailycaller.com with dailycaller being the most offensive.

Daily Caller and Breitbart frequently crash my browser. I like some of the writers on those sites but I don’t visit them frequently due to the problems with those sites.

Install
Adblock Plus on your browser (for FireFox or Chrome).
Almost all ads will disappear like magic.
Including ads on Youtube.

I'm getting that, too. One word for it: revenue.

Townhall is terrible. Breitbart is wonky. The Blaze takes forever to load for me, and Newsmax brings a 404 error every time I go there.

Yeah, DC drives me up a wall-it's almost as bad as Breitbart.
After canning Mickey Kaus it's not really worth reading-with the exception of the occasional Neil Munro column.

It's not journalism though.
If the only concern of these sites is drumming up dollars, then they should ditch news altogether and just run clickbait/stories about Caitlyn Jenner and the Kardashian brood.

I use Firefox with Ad Block Plus so I never have to see any of Drudge’s ads.

I start my information day with Drudge, been doing it for almost 20 years, I have been through all the anti Drudge years and yet, here I am ... still a fan of his report.

Its poorly coded advertising
it would not be dismissed ...by clicking the “X” normally coded to dismiss unwanted banners...and or popups or “pop unders”
