Wallace: Everyone knew Wallace was a gotcha question interviewer. He brought that same insecurity to the debate. There was no doubt that every question he asked of a conservative, non-establishment candidate was an attack question. The question that shows the worst of Wallace was he actually invited Kasich to attack Trump. That was cowardly. He didn't have the guts to do what he wanted to do, no doubt due to some journalistic reserve he would purport to represent, but he then tried to triangulate Kasich into doing it for him. Kasich's refusal highlighted the truth about Wallace's cowardice
Kelly: Not just her voice, but her entire demeanor dripped sarcasm and superiority throughout the entire debate. The best example are her attacks on religion. Her attack on Kasich for a St Peter analogy, and her "God talks to you question" were all directed at believers who have stood up for their Christian faith. Cruz, Kasich, Walker, Carson, and Rubio were hit with what is disdain toward religious people who actually believe their religion. Apparently, they are viewed by Kelly with disdain. Mocking Kasich about 'invoking God' really sticks in my mind.
Baier: I suppose it's good to know that Trump won't support a lousy republican nominee, but to start a debate with a show of hands over what was an issue Trump had already declared his position on was an effort to have him back down or face rejection. So, the follow on question would have been "you flip flopped" if Trump didn't hold up his hand. It was an attack if Trump did hold up his hand. In other words, "Trump, have you stopped beating your wife." Baier created a partisan PRO-REPUBLICAN moment when he's supposedly neutral. His other questions were certifiably partisan.
As I have pointed out many times Megyn Kelly is a complete leftist who just plays hard hitting interviewing center right conservative on TV just to collect her pay check and after last night’s debate she once again showed her true colors.
Total agreement. I even forgot the God question which I thought was on the order of really off the wall, and two answers in, Kelly starts expanding on the “off the wall concept” to the point that there was no point IMO. Here is what I wrote on another thread:
I thought right from the very first gotcha question that they gnue the answer too, that Fox did a really poor job on their upper tier debate. The death blow was the clip of Carly played during the prime time debate. Those Fox folks should have been taken out and whipped. And the interruptions, Kelly lost any respect I had for her style. It was one gotcha question after another and the pitting of one candidate against another. Total crap IMHO and the candidates managed to survive it. Someone with guts and money needs to supplant media and get on with DEBATE.
Exactly!
I believe addressing them as governor is one of those rules of etiquette. I don’t remember exactly what it is, but it has to do with addressing people with the highest title they’ve attained during their career.
Taken in by a pretty face...again.
The mods were dreadful. Meygen with her *comments* under her breath, was very, very unprofessional. I thought she was smarter than that.
Yep. What you said.
Partisan is partisan. Taking sides is taking sides. The mod3 were dreadful.
Furthermore, unlike OREilly, she hits libs equally hard, sometimes even worse.
*******************************
That must explain why she always has libs like Terrell W., Zimmerman, Mark H., etc., and lets them blather on regarding their progressive, Dem/Socialist views. ....Get real!
YOU WIN!!!
This was a TV "reality" freak show, as I figured it would be. FNC looks alot like a Univision game show these days.
She was bad, no doubt, but she often comes across that way, it really is her MO. She did that with lots of her questions, she also continued that way after the debate, but notably only with Trump and the women thing, not about religion.
After sleeping on it, it’s true she was extra snarky only about a few things, one of which was her disdainfully condescending question about God speaking to the candidates. I think it showed her in a poor light. It also demonstrated an unfortunate fact in America, that the past decade has become a time where Christians can be belittled openly without much push back from the public. The atheist left has made huge inroads and won a lot in the public square, meaning the media, Entertainment and in the schools.
Upon reflection Cruz did okay, was unapologetic, but should have gone all Newt on her. He should have taken on her question and attacked it as the gotcha it was, saying she was out of bounds, and shaming her for the condescension she demonstrated. He took the bait, when he should have gone on offense talking about the anti Christian bigotry she demonstrated.
It may have been his only error.
“Moron Kelly will get hers”
In a subtle way, I believe Trump alluded to that fact. As one talking head said yesterday afternoon, “Pity the fool who attacks Trump tonight.” Megyn’s the fool. She’ll pay for it, especially if Trump becomes President. I don’t pity her.
Honestly I don’t watch her ever, have just seen multiple clips of her interviews, and I’ve never seen her much different. It’s how she has become a Fox star, by being tough, and often condescending. She actually does it better than OReilly, as I’ve seen her eviscerate libs, where he lobs them softballs.
What you’re talking about is a Fox MO, where they always allow libs to blather on, that’s not uncommon, it’s the way Ailes has structured it, not her.
Megan Kelly was a cheap liberal hack that specifically went after Trump. That wasn’t a debate, that was a persecution.
Embarrassing! Dare i say, Yuck! That was icky! Please, stop you morons at Fox!
Kelly needs oxygen!
Sorry for all the explanation points! :O
Seriously, Fox needs to be taken down a peg or two.
Do you remember them attacking Trump even in pre-debate chatter? I think I do, but my memory won’t come up with a specific.
They made Candy Crowley look professorial.
