I’d be screaming the Pledge of Allegiance as loud and as fast as I could ... easiest way to confront four DI’s yelling at you.
In my defense, I was crying because the only MRE they had for 3 days was vegetarian taco pasta.
I want to allegate!
YEARS ago I was on a team from Fort Jackson that went down to Paris Island to look at their medical practices, to see what we could incorporate.
Here are some of my impressions:
-There was an old style fire pull alarm pull box between the yellow footprints and the door to the reception hall. Knowing the boots got off the bus at oh0dark-thirty I just knew recruits ran into the box on a regular basis. The Navy Doc told me they sew up several recruits a week.
My thought: Teaches attention to detail
-They had pea gravel in any pit where a recruit was at risk of falling from any height. They said the research showed that pea gravel absorbed the impact better than sawdust. My thought: This is smart.
-Recruits took a week of from training at the midway point and did KP, cut grass, and other details that need to be done. The thought was they would use that week to heal up the nagging injuries before starting the second half of training.
My thought: That was brilliant. Let them heal a bit while doing important work that needed to be done anyway. They return to training without being broke.

Black male DI: "DID YOU JUST CALL ME A BLACK BASTARD? ! YOU LITTLE SCUMBAG I'M GONNA RIP YOUR HEAD OFF AND S**T DOWN YOUR THROAT!"
The rest of the DIs on the parade ground: "Aw hell no!"

A drill getting in my face an yelling at me caused me to laugh. When asked by the drill what I thought was so funny I engaged my mouth before my brain. I told him my mom did a better job a yelling at me.
Dumbest thing I have ever said.
The drills collectively felt it was necessary to make an example of me. I ended up pushing up Ft Benning for the next 16 weeks and I dont even want to talk about “the pit”.
