He can do this because he is not beholden to the moneied class like every other candidate is.....other than sanders. Both these guys are gathering steam because they speak with Passion from their convictions.....not from some poll or from something somebody said at a fundraiser. Further, when challenged by the media or anybody else, they don’t back down. In a legalistic world where every word is carefully crafted, these guys are great.

I'm loving what Trump is doing to expose the craven frauds in the GOPe....

My concerns me, I get the feeling he is selling red meat and only red meat, to the base which is OK for now...

At what point does he actually start to put together an actual presidential campaign that attracts people outside the conservative base...

You can't win with just the conservative base...

Do we need the worlds greatest salesman or a seasoned conservative who has actually governed?

Interesting theory. In support of it: Trump is certainly hurting Cruz badly. OTOH, if Trump drops out Cruz should soar. But somehow I just don’t see Trump leaving the scene very soon. He enjoys the spotlight too much.

Why do we over analyze things so much? Trump is tired of the BS and has the spine, mouth and $$ to pee on people’s parades who he feels are mealy mouthed, spineless pols who smile, wave, ask for $& and then give the finger to the American people who voted for them based on what they promised. Trump sees this and has had enough and is giving the finger right back. If the other candidates were worth anything, they would have already been saying and doing these things all along but have they? With the exception of Rand and Cruz, to some extent, no. They’re too worried about which way the political winds are blowing. A vacuum in leadership always provides an opportunity for someone to step up and lead. Right now, for better or worse, at least Trump is doing it and many of us are enjoying the ride. Imagine how timid the campaign would be thus far if he hadn’t gotten in and bring the important issues to light. I hope he continues and slashes and burns all the way.

yep....for at least the last 25 minutes......

Bingo. It's like a new reality show for him. Mr. Entertainer is playing a game and is more surprised than anyone he's winning as we fall for his latest schtick.

The biggest thing wrong with the picture is that the guy doesn’t have a chance in hell of winning, but will run this bizarre (and entertaining) campaign anyway.

Not a chance. Cruz was being bottled up prior to Trump's shenanigans.

Cruz has got to pick up the pace though, if that’s the case.

Here’s the REAL consideration:

Trump is not trying to eliminate his opposition by insult and innuendo (remember Herman Cain?). He is specifically NOT making disparaging comments about his individual opponents; he is disparaging the elitism of their party-bosses. This is what is refreshing for many conservatives watching the R-campaign season.

Trump’s position appears to be that the men who oppose him in the campaign are good and honorable...only misguided by their [New England, Country Club, elitist] handlers.

Disclosure: I support Trump saying what he says only because he has no ties to the NE/CC/elitist cabal. I don’t think he will win the nomination. He has already redirected the conversation.

Right, I welcome you to have your illusion!

When you are as successful as Trump, then get back to me.

The last two elections? Look at what the Bushes did to spending, the Supreme Court, etc—we’ve been had by the RNC since Reagan miraculously broke through.

It is beginning to look like he is trying to divide the conservative electorate

The so-called "conservative electorate" doesn't need any help from Trump in dividing itself, it's very good at that on it's own.

How is he hurting Cruz?

Look at the most recent polls on Real Clear Politics. As Trump rises, Cruz falls. Cruz is likely to end up with a 4.0 RCP average when Debate Decision Date arrives in a week or so. That might get him 8th place but Kasich could push him to 9th. A couple of steps away from disaster for Cruz.

And note who the Cruz Enemies are: Fox News, The GOP, The MSM and Most Polling Organizations. He is not going to get any help from those folks.

“Trump has been communicating very effectively.”

Seriously? Have you watched his interviews? He has to be asked the same direct question two or three times before he actually addresses the question. He’s given the media so much ammo by speaking off the cuff that it’s ridiculous. (not that they wouldn’t twist words anyway, but he does make it too easy for them)

Don’t get me wrong. I’m cheering him on. But I also have the patience to dig and to really listen to what he’s trying to say.

I love that he’s unapologetic, but he is absolutely not a great orator. Smart man? Yes. Good leader? Seems like it.

That’s why I know that he’s not a Leftist plant. There is no freaking way that anyone could’ve predicted that he’d make it this far with the things he’s said and how he’s said them. Heck, the leftist press gleefully predicts that ‘he’s finished’ a few times a day.
