“The other candidates should take note: Running as if you have nothing to lose may, in fact, be the way to win.” (LOL! That is the last thing the establishment could ever do and that is why Trump is gaining such ground.)

So who has become the enemy on FR ? any Republican who does not say exactly what Freepers want to hear And who is the hero du jour? Someone who says exactly what Freepers want to hear and who has said a lot of stuff that is all over the map A dangerous trend in my book

Agreed. Bill O'Reilly is hated here because he said something less than flattering about Free Republic about 10 years ago.

Supporting Trump helps me get even with: The Democrats, the Republicans, and the media. And he would absolutely destroy Hillary in a debate.

Both politics and business are planetary. And Trump is Jovian. He’s going to attract moons asteroids and meteors and maybe even rings.

He offers no salvation whatsoever but he’ll make the circus funnier and more thrilling until the Lion bites his head off or Gravity rips him from the flying trapeze.

He could win.

He (Trump) offers no salvation whatsoever

I'm not so sure. Perhaps there are some young people out there who will read some of Trump's books and follow his advice instead of what of the trans-gender loonies (etc) are teaching them.

Nobody speaks out anymore, nobody's "mad as hell". Everything's manipulated. If Trump can wake younger people up from the stupor, he'll make a difference.

And about risk-taking. Macy's dumped him, they tried to take away the dreams of 51 women who worked hard to get to that pageant, the coordinated media and pols tried to shout him down with lies, the thought masters insulted, ridiculed and minimized his accomplishment. Trump stands strong, he gives it back, he isn't intimidated, and he's the one winning.

It's the lesson a nation of people who've forgotten who to take risks and to think for ourselves needs!

If Trump doesn't make a difference, who will?

I don’t recall the unflattering issue 10 years ago. Personally, I hate BOR ‘cause he’s an egotistic idiot.

Excellent article by Ms Crowley. Hits ALL the points of why Trump is resonating with the CONSERVATIVE base.

Have emailed out, far and wide :)

He keys all sorts of solutions out. Read his latest book. At least a dozen of his books are listed on Amazon with reviews.
The subtitle of his latest is making Ameeicsn #1 again. He wrote it years ago!

Cruz doesn’t need to learn from a “master executive” because Cruz isn’t a businessman. He’s a Constitutional conservative, and he is precisely the person we need in the White House.

Trump has said a few things that needed saying. Period. That’s it. He has an extensive record and past as a liberal Democrat and even admitted he was one.

We are not the Obamabots of 2008 who fall for empty sayings and promises of change. We’re conservatives, we think, and we need to act like it.

Acknowledge the worth of what Trump has said, but leave it at that without joining the cult of personality. Wanting him for president is insanity.

I guess the trite answer is we all could and need to. I truly believe the strength of the nation is embodied in the virtue of God bestowed on it's people.

In general, I think we're a lot less virtuous than the majority of people in 1930s Germany. We're headed for a dread reckoning even if Cruz gets elected but we'll surely elect the leader we deserve.

Reagan was once a Democrat, too. The problem with Cruz is he loses every battle, and is 8th in the polls. It’s coming down to Trump or Bush. I’m taking Trump.

Then you aren’t a thinking conservative nor one who operates based on principle. You’re just another person who has allowed himself to be distracted by the shiny new thing and promises of “change.”

Comparisons between Reagan and Trump simply don’t work. Reagan voted for FDR, but didn’t change parties until 1962.

Trump was a Democrat as recently as 2009. Before that, he changed parties over...and over...and over.

BTW, what do you think about the link I provided where Trump stands by his support for universal healthcare?

Are you on board with that?

Trump had to do business in Democrat states and would have never succeeded as a Republican. We all know what the DS would have done to his business. They play for keeps!

"Trump had to do business in Democrat states and would have never succeeded as a Republican. We all know what the DS would have done to his business. They play for keeps!"

Not buying it.

Even if it were true, you're describing someone who trashes his principles at will for personal benefit. Is that really the kind of person you want in the White House?

Trump has said a few things that needed saying. Period. That’s it. He has an extensive record and past as a liberal Democrat and even admitted he was one.

To put things into perspective, in 2012 Trump attacked Romney for being too conservative (!!!) on immigration and for alienating hispanic voters, and in 2000 he jumped into the Reform Party, attacking Pat Buchanan for "nativism". Now he's done a 180 degree about-face on the immigration issue.

How can anyone be stupid enough to trust a man who says one thing to get in the media spotlight one day and the exact opposite a few years later to stay in the spotlight?
