Barack Obama scolded a reporter at his Wednesday briefing after getting a critical question about the nuclear deal with Iran. CBS News's Major Garrett pressed the president on the imprisonment of Americans in Iran.
"As you well know, there are four Americans in Iran—three held on trumped-up charges, according to your administration, one whereabouts unknown. Can you tell the country, sir, why you are content, with all the fanfare around this deal, to leave the conscience of this nation, this strength of this nation, unaccounted for in relation to these four Americans?" Garrett asked.
"I've gotta give you credit, Major, for how you craft those questions," Obama responded. "The notion that I am content as I celebrate, with American citizens languishing in Iranian jails..."

Major Garrett spent a lot of his early days on the old NET conservative television channel and worked for awhile at Fox - he’s a real journalist.....

I was reading some of the comments on the Huffpost about this episode. The more I read the harder it was to stop laughing. All I could think of was, had it been GWB’s deal, Major would have been their grand champion reporter.
How hard would it have been to simply say to Iran that a condition precedent to ANY negotiations is the release of the captives? The guy has either no negotiating skills or simply hates Americans. I’ll go for the latter.
Barry can’t handle the truth. And he’s not interested in it.
I happened to be somewhere today where FOX was airing this question/answer. I had the same thought as I saw the look on Obama’s face. I thought “He really enjoys lying and playing this game”.
What a despicable piece of human excrement this man is.
He makes my blood boil.

If he cared about these people at all (which he obviously does not), he would have said up front “return our citizens and then we may talk”. Words cannot express my hate for this man.
Look, Barry, we know Valerie runs the show so next time you see her, would you ask her why she didn’t bother to get our American citizens back before engaging in this sham of a deal?
He is a real journalist who is not intimidated by His Highness unlike most so-called journalists.
