American business magnate, Donald Trump said in his announcement to run for President on Tuesday, that he will levy punitive taxes on America’s second largest automaker, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) if the company continues with its $2.5 billion expansion plans in Mexico, which he said will cause thousands to lose their jobs in the US.

Referring to “Ford’s head” – likely the company CEO Mark Fields – as someone he knows, Mr. Trump said he will call him to share the “bad news”.

The difference between your ridiculous example is Trump wants Ford to manufacture, he just wants to do it in the USA, Obama wants to shut sown the coal plants completely, There is no comparison.

The (potential)President of the USA wants a USA manufacturer to keep its plants in the USA. This is a morally correct and proper thing to do. It was what our founders did. It is what every other country in the world does that has a grain of sanity left.

Anyone expecting one man, one person, to save this mess is delusional.

Ya, lets get rid of Trump and stick with the 12 career bureaucrats left on stage.

Combined, these career bureaucrats have probably been on the government payroll 275 years.

Lets keep it business as usual!

Gadzooks. Trump said HE would impose tariffs. Obama said HE would impose high green house penalties on coal plants. Neither have such authority. On this point, Trump sounds like Obama and like tyrant rather than someone who plans on acting within a constitutional framework.

It has nothing to do with liking his ideas or not. Get a grip and read carefully and without mindreading before attacking.

I don’t want Trump to go. He needs to keep speaking so we can see the GOP recoil in horror. LOL

What I meant is my posty that no matter who people decide is their candidate, one person is not going to beable to turn this mess around.

one person is not going to be able to turn this mess around.

Of course not. It's why putting someone in there who has a clear history of eliminating massive waste and dead weight is very good thing.

Where do I say tariffs are bad?

The point is that Trump said HE WILL IMPOSE a tariff to affect Ford. A tariff is a tax and no president has the authority to ‘impose’ one without congress. Trump may have not meant it literally, but it’s disconcerting nonetheless.

That is the simple, original reason I said he sounds a little like Obama who we know would like nothing better to be dictator of the world.

Check around the Internet...it seems to me that Presidents have a certain leeway in imposing or lowering tariffs. So Donald Trump would not be doing anything new if he jacked up tariffs on China and Mexico.

You have a good perspective on The Donald. I would imagine he will frighten many women into increasing their donations to HRC.

“Business as usual”, not that’s a catchphrase that will comfort the American people of both parties.

American people of both parties?

I could think of a bunch of really good catch phrases for the R/D party in D.C.

As well as some for all the lumberheads who’ve failed to realize they’re being lied to by this choreographed charade year in and year out.

“They have voted on trade deals after trade deals.”

The trade deals are just a symptom of the problem, NOT THE CAUSE....

American Industry was being destroyed by government regulations and Democrat policies 15 years before NAFTA. The Clean Air Act was destroy the American Steel Industry long before Carter even proposed the Mexico-US-Canada Free Trade Agreement, which later became NAFTA.

You can throw out all of the tariffs you like, but until you get to the ROOT causes of the problem, you are just wizzing in the wind.
