Republican Hopeful Donald Trump Threatens Ford With Tariffs Over Mexico

Republican presidential hopeful and billionaire Donald Trump wants to bring the pain via punitive tariffs to Ford for manufacturing vehicles in Mexico.

During his announcement of his 2016 campaign Tuesday, The Detroit News says Trump vowed he would levy a 35 percent tariff on Ford parts and vehicles imported from Mexico if the automaker presses forward with a $2.5 billion investment in the nation, claiming the move would “take away thousands” of jobs from American workers.

Good hair, bad hair, dead-cat hair, or no hair, we don’t need a stinkin’ pandering protectionist for a president.

Pat Buchanan weighed in on Donald Trump’s run:

(from the site “Lewrockwell.com”)

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2015/06/patrick-j-buchanan/despise-the-beltway-elites/

“Votes for Trump will be votes to reject a regime run by Bushes and Clintons that plunged us into unnecessary wars, cannot secure our borders, and negotiates trade deals that produced the largest trade deficits known to man and gutted a manufacturing base that was once “the great arsenal of democracy” and envy of mankind.”

Whatever one believes about Pat Buchanan (I basically support what he says), but I know there are people on this site who object to him. He is pro-American about US industry, and so is Trump.

America needs to bring back American businesses once again.

Trump this week, set fire to the American political establishment, which has been selling out America now for an entire generation.

Big time. Both parties.

Who are you supporting by the way?

We heard the same thing about Ross Perot in 1992, didn’t we? How did that all work out?

Hey, I voted for Ross Perot.

I wanted the guy to avoid the mess we’re in now. I really did.

But he didn’t win. The selling-out of America continued full speed, and now China is the most successful country on earth.

However there is one significant difference this time:

Trump isn’t in a third party. He’s right here in the GOP, and he’s already raising a heck of a storm.

He’s going to win. Don’t believe me, all you want. He’s going to be our next president.

Really? Well, Ford happens to be one of the members of the NWO cartel who are behind Obama. They are a member of the elites who despise Americans.

That's great to hear. Is he going to select Oprah Winfrey as his running mate?

/sarcasm off/

My prediction is that his campaign will come to an end once someone starts digging into his past and finds out how many "Mexican rapists" have been employed at his casinos over the years.

You know ... just "doing jobs Americans won't do."

Well I will grant you, the establishment is lined up big time against Donald Trump now, in unison.

The (leftist) media is parrotting the talking points, which the right-side establishment is saying, they are both singing the exact same tune.

Reminds me of the way everyone ganged up on another candidate two presidential elections ago. You may recall, she was a hugely popular governor at the time.

90% approval, in America’s largest state. She darned near, won that election, despite our weak presidential “candidate”.

Just saying. She’d make a terrific running mate, Donald.

A 90% approval rating in "America's largest state?" LOL. A lot of good that did ... and she was a VP candidate, not a real candidate running on her own. That was her only foray into national politics, wasn't it? And what happened to her since then?

Donald Trump could have run for mayor of New York City, and he probably would have won in a landslide. Probably even for governor of New York, too. I'm all about having political amateurs run for office, but in this day and age don't you find it strange that someone's first run for political office is a presidential campaign?

This guy will never be elected, because if he ever becomes a serious candidates you're going to see a whole bunch of skeletons dragged out of his closet.

Ross Perot would've had a shot if he had chosen an excellent running mate. I have no idea why he didn't. My impression is that most people agreed with him about NAFTA.

Mexico sends us their underclass while they subsidize taking more good US jobs? I'm supposed to like that? Let the Fords built in Mexico stay in Mexico.

Trump is an extremely egotistical blowhard with no political experience and, I'm sure, a ton of skeletons in his closet.

That said, he would make a far better president than the present occupant, any democrat running, and most of the republicans running. If he has all the money he says he does, he has no need for more so he won't be stealing any. He has lived the good life so he won't be living la dolce vita on the taxpayers dime like the Obamas.

I believe he really does know how to negotiate a deal and bring jobs back to America. He does know how to build a wall. He knows how to get tough with adversaries.

Does he know how to play the political game in Washington? I hope not. After 8 years of Obama, I do not see a downside.

Ross Perot never came close to winning a single state in 1992. The only ones where he even came in second place were Maine and Utah. He would need to win dozens of states to get enough electoral votes to win.

I'm not sure how anyone can believe that a different running mate would have made a huge difference.

People seem to forget about this thing called Congress in Washington. Trump will not get anything done unless he has complicit players in Congress, and I don't see anyone there who would jump on his bandwagon.

There hasn't been a U.S. president or vice president from New York since 1944. There's a reason for this. Nobody west of the Delaware River trusts a New Yorker.

THAT’S what a candidate who is looking out for American workers DOES, as opposed to the rest who just SAY they are looking out for American workers.
