I live near and know the Duggars.
I thought maybe I would provide a little perspective on why this is happening now.
I'll use a timeline as that may be the easiest way to show events.
Fall/November 2014 - Fayetteville Arkansas, a notoriously liberal and hippy community tries to pass a Trans-gender Equality law/ordinance.
The ordinance would have forced businesses and churches to accept gays and trans-genders in their bathrooms and businesses. It was quite a heinous ordinance.
Michelle Duggar began making robo calls against the ordinance. The Duggars used their influence, money and everything they had to stop the ordinance.
By late 2014, early 2015 the Ordinance was repealed by the people. This ENRAGED the gay, hippy, liberal community in Fayetteville and Springdale. The two cities are minutes apart. The Duggars were blamed for the failure of the ordinance.
Soon after, the GAY Police Chief of Springdale, Arkansas, where the Duggars live, announced she would be retiring in a few months. In her statement she said she would not retire before 'she finished up some unfinished business'
The local elections were held and the Sheriff of Washington County and other officials were safely in place. Within a few months .. the GAY police chief illegal releases the Duggar documents.
Late Spring 2015 - The Duggars lose their TV show, Josh is forced to resign, the Duggars are now embarrassed and their name is MUD.
Within 2 WEEKS OF THE DUGGAR CONTROVERSY.. Fayetteville Councilman have now brought the Transgender bathroom/church/business issue back up again. Now that they have the Duggars out of the way.. the ordinance is theirs to pass without interference.
If it fails again, who will they blame?....................

But some on this site really don't care about the WHY...they hate the Duggars ( for some inexplicable reason/s ) and have spent 100s of hours posting made up stories and impugnations about all of them.

I’ve heard that Springdale has change dramatically over the past few decades, but never quite understood why. Clearly Tyson brings some white collar jobs, as does the whole Walmart complex, but how can this be happening in a city that according to Wiki is 56.8% “religious”>
Tyson has brought in the largest Mexican community. We have so many illegals in Springdale they have set up their own Mexico.
Springdale is also home to the largest Marshalese population in the entire world.
It’s almost as liberal and hippy as Fayetteville but not quite.

While I think the family was terribly misguided when dealing with their son years ago, what you are saying about a vindictive police chief makes sense. We are dealing with a vindictive boss right now and her actions and, in our case totally false, accusations may cost us our current livelihood. Until you have been the object of a campaign of hate, you have no idea what it is like. It seems no one really cares about the abuse of power.
Thankfully, there are no accusations of criminal behavior in our case. Just twisting everything to give the appearance of policy violations. Sigh. The best analogy I can give is the story of Hamam and Mordecai. Godless people hate it when others do not “bow” to them and their hatred consumes and they will not stop until their enemies are destroyed. This is probably the case with the Duggars. I am no longer a fan and do not agree with much of what they do. Still, it is difficult to have a person in authority abuse their power to hurt your family.

not everyone hates them here- The kid had raging hormones- took it too far- a very common story with young kids of both sexes- the girls said they had forgiven him and understood that he let his hormones get the better of him at a young age- they didn’t excuse his actions- but forgave him- then this pig of a sherrif comes out and violates their rights victimizing them in the press because she had a personal vendetta agenda against them-
Thanks. Maybe the Marshall Is. are all gay ;-) Mexican immigrants (legal and othewise) are a 100% accurate indicator there is a meat processing plant in town.
I never heard of them before this whole media circus.

Same thing in Pittsburg and Mt. Pleasant, Texas. 20-25 years ago great places to raise a family. Bo Pilgrim brought in truckload after truckload of mexicans for his chicken industry. The towns has deteriorated, the schools suck, and gangs are every where. Good job Bo.
One of the girls was just five years old. He was 14. This is a little different than raging teenage hormones.

And it wasn’t my intention to defend Josh’s actions. He was wrong. But he has admitted so and atoned for his sins.
This post primarily focuses on why, more than 10 years after the fact, it has suddenly been brought back up.
By the way, this was NO secret. Everyone in Springdale knew about this. It was not hidden.
The ordinance is why this was suddenly brought back up now.
We all know it was a witch hunt. What I want to know is, are we just going to sit back and let said hunt happen?
