The operation to remove hundreds of tiny stones took doctors around two hours
Doctors in China have removed 420 kidney stones from a man's body, blaming an excessive amount of tofu in his daily diet.
Mr He from Zhejiang Province in eastern China, checked into the Dongyang People's Hospital complaining of intense pain in his abdomen last month. A CT scan revealed that his left kidney was packed full of stones, most of them tiny.
Doctors operated on Friday in an agonising procedure that lasted about two hours.
Mr He said he had a history of suffering from kidney stones. Twenty years ago he had 10 stones removed using a procedure called lithotripsy, which sends shock waves to break up stones in the kidney, bladder, or ureter until they are small enough to pass in the urine.
"I have worked as a doctor for 30 years and have never seen so many stones," said Zhou Changchun, the attending surgeon, according to state newspaper Qianjiang Evening Post.

A Great Wall’s worth.
Looks like the contents of a couple of chicken gizzards.
GEORGE: Did you pass your stone yet?
KRAMER: Not yet. But the suspense is killing me.
“They put tofu in their tofu in Zhejiang”.
That hurts just to look at. BTT
Of the tiny one I had - I was miserable....the pain would go from 0-11 in 1/2 a second and wake me from a sound sleep to pounding on my side / cold sweats /oh, and the scope up my yoohoo , man parts -just to look around... that was a real treat
I was just in the hospital emergency last week not once, but twice due to a kidney stone (3mm) that was wedged in my left kidney. Had intense pain for an entire week. The first trip in, they discharged me with Hydrocodone which worked until the pain intensified again and they no longer masked the pain. My second trip to the emergency room they discharged me and prescribed me Oxycodone. Finally passed the thing. The following Monday, the Urologist calls me to let me know I still have 2 in my left kidney and 1 in my right. Said they were 1-2mm in size. They are still in me and Ive been drinking about 3 liters of water per day.
Wish me luck as the only people I would wish a kidney stone on would be the ISIS DIRTBAGS.
Yet another reason to hate tofu.
Try cranberry juice.............................
I’d make a necklace................and a bracelet.....................
Looks like a gravel road after a rain...............
Moderation in all things.............including tofu....................
I knew a guy who once passed a Buick while driving on the highway, and he said it didn’t even hurt.
Good luck! I know your pain, I had one six years ago. The pain was so bad I cried and vomited for hours. The hydrocordone in pill form did not help much. The shots though, they were downright fun, killed the pain completely.
Some say you should add lemon juice to that water to help dissolve them.
May I suggest Chanca Piedra- an herb. Means ‘stone breaker’ in Spanish.
Years ago when I use to drive a taxi in New York city I was driving down by the West Village when this guy came running out doubled over wearing only his underwear! and he threw $20 bucks at me and told me to take him to the hospital. He said he had kidney stones, and I never seen a guy act in so much pain in my life, it was just like he got shot in the gut. The whole way there screaming and yelling and I had to help, basically carry him into the emergency room and tell the nurse what was going on as he couldn’t speak. What causes that pain, is it the stones try to pass through the urethra? Damn, they must be hell. That was crazy, one of the many bizarre stories from my taxi days. I actually went through red lights for the guy (carefully) because I figured if a cop pulled me over he would see it was a medical emergency.
I was hospitalized for one in 1984 - passed it after one day and it looked like a small fish hook. Very painful.
For an onscreen depiction of the agony of a kidney stone see Deadwood season 2 “New Money”.
The actor playing Al Swerengen does a masterful job of pure agony
