GOP Legislators Concerned About Loans Made By Walker's WEDC
5/22/2015 | Matthew Defour

Posted on 06/06/2015 9:20:00 AM PDT by conservativejoy

There has been a complete dismissal by some that the dubious management of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp, created by Gov. Scott Walker has led to a new investigation. Characterized a " partisan witch hunt" by his defenders, the reality is that GOP legislators have serious concerns about how unsecured loans were made and never repaid. In addition, GOP prosecutors, as well as the bypartisan audit team, soundly refute that dismissal. GOP legislators removed Walker as Chairman of the WEDC earlier this week.

Here is a link to an article outlining GOP concerns on one of those loans, which is the current focus of the investigation.

I didn’t write the articles. I would think anyone would want to know of a potential problem with a candidate. If the GOP prosecutor investigating finds no wrongdoing on Walker’s part, I’ll be the first to report it. That is why I subscribed to the Wisconsin State Journal, a Conservative newspaper in Madison.

Exactly like pissant used to put it. A perfect illustration of him sliming Gov Palin. VERY good...........

I have no doubt she/he/it has. And that means what? That there are fools on FR who want to join the circular firing squad?

Gosh, I would have never known.....

True for every candidate, every election. Walker has proven tough enough to weather all the political attacks. The WEDC is just the latest. But Walker created it so he'll have to defend it. I posted one defense of it: http://inwisconsin.com/inside-wedc/impact/ and I will post any others that come up. I also appreciate the daylight shed on the political attacks and I will point out if they are political. I won't tolerate innuendo, speculation, and especially falsehoods like talking points from political enemies. But I can't and won't do anything about it except call it out. I can't do more than that. If I post something wrong, I expect the same.

The illegal campaign coordination charges are very much alive and well. Those are a part of John Doe.

The John Doe case is on hold and under review. It may be shut down.

They are so "Conservative" they endorsed Mitt Romney in 2012. In their own words: "This is not an easy endorsement to make," the paper's editorial board wrote. "We endorsed Obama for change last time around. Now we're endorsing change again: Mitt Romney."

The State Supreme Court has already ruled. It was reported on May 18th that the Campaign Finance Investigation would continue.

In a state full of Democrats, they supported Obama and then supported Romney next time. Since he was forced down our throats as the nominee, not much else they could have done. I think they held their nose and did it, like those of us who voted for him, or rather against Obama.

I don’t like politicians who play dirty and break the law. If they are doing that, they will not get my vote. I don’t put these people on a pedestal, I put them under a microscope. My instincts were telling me Walker was not honest before I began to look further. I’m waiting to see if there is hard evidence.

Performance wise, I could write an entire page about the things he has done that are not conservative, but since I have mainly been looking at the way he has managed WEDC, I’ll just say he’s lousy on fiscal matters. That and the projected 2 billion dollar budget deficit in Wisconsin, and the fact that Wisconsin is last in the Midwest and 38th in the nation in job creation, tells me that we don’t need to take his policies nationwide.

I’m one of Sarah Palin’s biggest fans. I had the pleasure of visiting where she grew up in her early years in Skagway, and her former offices in Wasilla and Juneau. She will always have a special place in my heart and I would love to see her in public office again.

My instincts were telling me Walker was not honest before I began to look further.

You were posting links from sites like PRWatch.org which is run by Walker's political enemies. What does your instinct tell you about this:

"I begged and begged, ‘Please don’t shoot my dogs, please don’t shoot my dogs, just don’t shoot my dogs.’ I couldn’t get them to stop barking, and I couldn’t get them outside quick enough. I saw a gun and barking dogs. I was scared and knew this was a bad mix.”

From https://sfcmac.wordpress.com/2015/04/21/demprog-jackboots-in-wisconsin-invaded-homes-of-residents-who-supported-scott-walker-act-10/

The article points out that the John Doe is very much like the IRS targeting of tea party groups. Would you like to see John Doe powers extended to the federal government? Too late, they already have it. Unfortunately the Supreme Court decided (without comment) not to review the O'Keefe case mentioned in the article. So that defense of the First Amendment is gone. However the state challenge to the John Doe case continues and the case is still on hold.

Spin it any way you want, Walker’s WEDC has lost 2 jobs for every 1 job created. It has spent millions of taxpayer dollars for those disastrous results. The only ones who have benefited are the companies owned by Walker supporters who received 60% of that money.

I said every R except Walker. Yes, even those who have not declared and are just thinking it over have tried to hit me up via the GOP or Tea Party list. You name them from Cruz, Carson to Rand Paul and Rubio they have asked too. I got so tired of Rand Paul and Jeb, and then the Tea party that I have them marked as spam.

I have no time for another narcissistic personality disorder type and the man you are pushing plus many others are meets that definition just like Obama.

I did not "spin" the John Doe investigation, just posted an article describing the tactics. Do you believe those are proper tactics or not (John Doe)?

As for the WEDC investigation, it should continue. Your statements (2 jobs for 1 created) and (60% of the money going to "Walker supporters" ) are a bit misleading. Those aggregate jobs numbers are not a result of WEDC, although you might fairly say that WEDC did not improve the numbers. The 60% going to Walker supporters comes from a madison.com article that you read:

"The report from One Wisconsin Now maintains that nearly 60 percent of some $975 million in assistance distributed by WEDC went to firms that had contributed to Walker or the Republican Governor’s Association."

Your claims of 100's of millions in loans also came from there. I'm not sure if you posted a link or not, but I found it anyway. First and foremost, "One Wisconsin Now" is a group of political enemies of Walker so whatever they say can be ignored in favor of real audit information. Second, the "assistance" is not loans, there are only $20 million in loans.

That said, WEDC is something that should be monitored by Walker supporters so that there are no surprises later when the audit review comes out (early July) and when the partisan DA makes charges (if he does do so).

It is worth posting articles about WEDC, but not worth repeating "60%" factoids that come from his political enemies. Numbers like that from reliable sources or from investigations should be posted.

Finally, do not keep conflating the John Doe and the WEDC issues. They are separate. If you believe the John Doe witch hunt is proper, then be prepared to defend the IRS targeting of the Tea Party as well, because it is the same thing.

That’s why I think Donald Trump should be Secretary of Commerce. He has a lot of talent and contacts that could be utilized to help jumpstart manufacturing and create a business friendly environment for new jobs.

If you figure the percentages yourself, the 60% figure is accurate.

I have not condoned nor even commented on the way the investigation was conducted. I am more interested in the evidence uncovered and what it reveals.

That investigation has nothing to do with the WEDC.

John Doe is far worse than the tea party targetting.

Conservativekilljoy is far from a conservative, he's the pissant of this election cycle, trying to destroy by innuendo and leftist Alinsky tactics a fine conservative.

Anyone who doesn't see that clearly is a few brains cells short.......

If Scott Walker goes down, it will be by his own actions. That remains to be seen. The prosecutor’s office has only begun looking into the WEDC investigation since the latest Audit was turned over in late May. Maybe he’ll be vindicated , maybe not. I’m waiting to see and expect it will be awhile before any results are released.
