What’s bad about Ohio, politics aside?
Vermont is already RED. Commie Red.
My .02...
I’d add “with conviction”...otherwise it’s a moot point.
I'm afraid you're right. Those of us who thoughtfully vote based on the issues have been far outnumbered by the gibmedat coalition which the 'RATS have cobbled together. Issues are completely immaterial to them and totally beyond their ken. To receive all this free stuff, all they need to do is vote as they're told - not a bad deal at all.
They've been cleverly seeding swing voting districts and precincts with "refugees," muzzies and wetbacks -- all in pursuit of their Thousand Year Marxist Reich.
Good idea, a billionaire can fund it, I’d go in exchange for for a house by a lake, promise of a state legislative berth, and a comely lass.
Anyway, rat Governor Peter Shumlin is not running for reelection. Despite it being a POTUS year the GOP should have a chance.
They need to leave their (virtually nonexistent) gun laws alone also.
it was flipped ... Jeffords was a typical VT GOPer, tended to vote YES on SCOTUS nominees and cloture, etc. Would have opposed obombiCare. And a few rude White House staffers flipped him at a crucial time. SPector was flipped too which was unnecessary ... and he was vote #60
Too many. The Free State Project has been trying to flip NH for 15 years.
Boston hippies started the migration to Vermont in the late 60’s, early 70’s . By the late 70’s, it was all over.
I think maybe Hank Johnson would know the answer to that one... but then again, Vermont isn’t an island like Guam...

I dunno... maybe if we all ran over to one side, Vermont would... break off of the mainland...
Gee... Im SO glad we elect geniuses like Hank... who else could ‘splain dis?
In Vermont, Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott seems popular and he may run for Governor next year.
Is he on the right side of things?
I have no idea.
He’s a Republican, I don’t know how conservative but it’s Vermont, they should be glad for anyone to the right of Trotsky.
Either Phil Scott or the ‘14 nominee (a nobody who almost won anyway) Scott Milne is likely to be the GOP nominee this time.
Forgot to mention, I’ll also need a small maple syrup plantation.
Maple syrup comes from special sweet-cattle ranches, not maplegave piñas, y'dern flatlander.
Not that many for a state or local election, maybe, but as the state went to Obama with 67% and 66& of the vote in the last two elections you'd have to move a substantial part of the state's population into or out of the state to affect the state's vote in a presidential election.
I suspect 1) your numbers may not include independents, who would most likely vote Democrat in presidential elections and 2) a lot of Vermont Republicans wouldn't be considered Republican in some other parts of the country.
But forty years ago, somebody somewhere asked a question like yours, got people thinking and moving, and eventually pushed Vermont into the Democrat column, so who knows what could happen?
LOL. We’re gonna carpetbag in and civilize your Green Mountains! ;p
Still trying to figure out how Bernie Sanders keeps getting re-elected up there...
He’s an asshole. Vermont loves assholes. Howard the Duck Dean, Stalin Sanders, Leaky Leahy, Judas Jim. World-class assholes.
