President Barack Obama said at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Portland, Ore., yesterday that he is “not a scientist,” but that: “I can understand science.”

Obama made the remark as he talked about his agenda for fighting global warming.

“That’s why we’re taking actions through the EPA to make sure that we cut carbon pollution that’s produced from power plants,” he said. “It’s the right thing to do.” …

Blast; I initially read “pay grade” as “gay pride”. Freudian slip of vision?

One does not even begin to understand Science until they have taken Calculus based Physics

Then, by your criterion, Galileo was not a scientist, nor was Kepler, Copernicus, or Archimedes.

When he was at the University of Berlin, someone relayed some bit of academic gossip to Einstein about how A had not properly credited B in a published paper. Einstein laughed in his face. He held academic politics and pretense in contempt.

I wonder what he would have made of 0bama and our various and sundry public intellectuals?

Paraphrase...

My admin will bankrupt coal fired electricity. Your electric rates will necessarily sky rocket. Wind and solar are the way to go (Solyendra, etc. bankrupt).

You can keep your plan, you can keep your doctor...your premiums will be reduced by $2500...

The attack in Benghazi was caused by a video of Islam...ISIS (ISIL) is not Islamic...

I knew nothing about that until I read it in the paper, just like you...Bergdalh is a hero, and that's why I released all the Taliban...

I'm tired of typing the lies, but you get the picture.

He “understands science” as any good Marxist does: a body of dogmatic statements which much be believed with absolute faith as long as they serve the Revolution, and not one second longer.

If you miss the transition, ZOT.

Copernicus and Galileo battled the “settled science” of their time which asserted the earth was the center of the universe.

Christopher Columbus battled “settled science” at the time which argued the earth was flat.

The settled science of the late 1800’s stated heavier than air flight by humans was impossible.

In the 1950’s mentally ill people were lobotomized because “settled science” believed it would improve them.

Some examples of scientists and government working together:

In the 1950’s “scientists” put American soldiers close to nuclear explosions in order to observe the effects of the blast and fallout on human beings. Many died agonizing and horrible deaths years later from cancer.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s scientists and government conducted experiments on unknowing prisoners and citizens order to understand the effects of untreated syphilis. State governments routinely and involuntarily sterilized low IQ poor people, particularly minorities. This was “settled science” at the time backed by the power of the state.

In my lifetime I’ve listened to “esteemed” scientists declare the earth is cooling and a new ice age is imminent, the earth is warming and we’ll all die, the earth cannot feed its population and there will be mass starvation, etc., the Arctic Ocean will be free of ice by 2015. None of this “settled science” has yet occurred.

I’ve also been told by social sciences and politicians public education will improve if billions of dollars are thrown at it, that minority children will learn if their teachers and school administrators are minorities, that poor children will learn if the government feeds them three meals a day, that poor children will learn if the Headstart Program is expanded. All of these things have been done, and the output of schools continues to decline. Again, “settled science” imposed by the heavy hand of the state.

Kepler, Copernicus, and Archimedes would be the first to agree that their understanding of planetary motion was profoundly rudimentary relative to Newton or Einstein, and that Understanding Science is a moving target, now requiring advanced understanding of Math and Physics. In the time of Archimedes the Pythagorean Theorem gave great insight.
