Cheryl Treadway was held hostage by her boyfriend at knife point Monday afternoon, together with her three children, authorities said.
She persuaded him to let her use a cellphone to order a pepperoni pizza online from Pizza Hut, according to authorities.
Under the comments section, there was a message asking them to send help and call 911 as they were being held hostage, Highlands County Sheriffs Office said in a statement.
When Treadways order came in, Pizza Hut employees knew who she was because she is a frequent customer. And her message raised an alarm.
Weve never seen that before, restaurant manager Candy Hamilton told CNN affiliate WFLA. Ive been here 28 years and never, never seen nothing like that come through.

Dude just aint et up with the smarts.
Another “Mommy’s boyfriend” story.
Glad they got out of it alive, but it shows that Mommy has very little discernment or discretion.
Smart woman.
One of the best women I ever knew worked at Pizza Hut. She made too much in tips and had many regular friends as customers to want give,it up.
RIP Janice. She died unexpectedly several years ago.
“Hey Pete, does this order say ‘caution’ or ‘calzone’?”
“Let me see. She wrote ‘hostage’ but I think she meant ‘anchovy.’ Stupid spellcheck.”
Debateable based on some life choices. But certainly clever in a pinch this time.
bttt
Are you still running the 2 toppings for 2 large pizzas deal? If so, anchovies and extra cheese on BOTH. And I'm being held hostage, BTW. THANKS.
Can I have extra cops on that?
My local Pizza Huts don’t have anchovy as a topping choice...
Maybe the Pizza Hut guy saw that commercial during the Super Bowl where the woman ordered pizza from 911.
Maybe, maybe not - why was she with the dirtbag to begin with?
The truly amazing thing is that the Pizza Hut employees did something.
What is it about women, their kids from another man, and the “boyfriend?”
Nearly every kind of abuse or violence against children seems to be from these situations.
She was smart to get help the way she did.
Hey Pete look how they spelled hotsauce!
hostage
“Debateable based on some life choices. But certainly clever in a pinch this time.”
I think MOST people make bad choices when it comes to sex and other smarts are largely irrelevant
Personally, if a hostage-taker allowed me to use a cell phone I probably would have called 911 directly instead of going through Pizza Hut.
Exactly. But I’m sure this good-sense remark would be greeted with horror among the perpetually offended.
Cell phones don’t always work with 911. Besides that, ordering police help from Pizza Hut would be more efficient in a lot of places.
