It almost happened to me, and now I know why.
She said, "people like me who own their own homes can have big dogs. But you and your wife will have to get an apartment sooner or later, and you can't take that dog with you. Landlords won't tolerate it. Insurance issues, don't you know."
But they got the dog anyway. A Rottweiler-German Shepherd mutt with pointy ears. Two years old, muscular, weighs about 70 pounds. With weird-looking yellow-gray eyes. And he really fell in love with all of us. When we came home from work and/or school, he danced around and groveled at out feet. I loved playing with him in the back yard, but mama insisted on making him a house dog so he wouldn't pick up fleas. He did anyway, and we had to bathe him twice a week. And whenever I took him for a walk he dragged me down the street, because I only weighed a little more than he did.
Then the unexpected happened.
Some loser a mile away shot and carjacked a tourist, led the cops on a high-speed chase, and then fled. He was on the run, armed and dangerous. There were police helicopters searching for him, and squad cars everywhere. And I had no idea.
It was Saturday. Mama and my big brother were at work. My sister-in-law was upstairs asleep, and I was snuggled on the livingroom couch with the tiny baby watching cartoons. And the dog was sleeping on the floor next to us.
BAM! BAM! BAM! "Open up! Police!"
And that dog went completely insane. He sprang to his feet and bared his fangs, barking wildly, just as the door flew open. I jumped up, scooped up the baby in one arm, and grabbed his collar with the other hand. And these two big cops were standing there on the threshold, ashen-faced and wide-eyed.
That dog was snarling and barking, all his fangs showing, foaming at the mouth, and I held onto his collar as hard as I could. He wanted to eat those guys, and they knew it. I had never seen this side of him. And that little baby was still snuggled against my shoulder on my other arm, fast asleep.
I screamed at the top of my voice: "WGirl! Get your a$$ down here and GET THIS DOG!"
Fortunately, she had heard the commotion and was already rushing down the stairs. She reached for the baby, but I shouted:
"Take the dog out the back door and put him on the short chain! Now!"
She was older and bigger than me, so she was able to grab the dog's collar and drag him, howling and snarling, out the back door.
Both of those cops were trembling and sweating, and so was I. And that precious baby boy snuggled against my shoulder never even woke up.
One of the cops shuddered and said, "man, that dog is a f***ing Cujo!"
It was only much later that I learned that cops carry some kind of gadget on their utility belts that emits a high-pitched sound that hurts dog's ears and really p*sses them off. Especially big dogs. Has anybody out there ever faced this kind of situation?
Why did the cops decide to break down your door. Address mistake?
You could be the new Truman Capote. Glad your dog survived.
So they kicked in your door?

Theres a guy in downtown Oakland, by the CVS drug store, who sells stuff from a sidewalk table. He always has a dog with him. Im no expert, but shes similar to a boxer. Anyway, shes very friendly and he allows her to run loose, no leash. Everybody who hangs around that area knows her and a lot of people bring little doggie treats for her.
So today he had a second dog. A male. It seemed just as friendly and people were petting him and fussing over him just like his sister. The owner had him on a leash part of the time and off the leash part of the time. (I watched quite a bit of this as I had to kill some time today.)
So a woman walked up and fussed over the bitch for a while and then stepped over and began petting the male. The ladydog stuck her head in to get a little more petting and when the woman swtched her attention, that male dog went from friendly to killer in the bat of an eye. Looked to me like he went straight for her throat. Fortunately, he was on his leash at that moment and the owner reacted as quickly as the dog. And to give the dog credit, when the owner said down he laid down. But that could have been a very ugly incident.
Why don’t cops knock on doors and politely serve warrants?
Why are there so many rhoid-ravaged Barny Fife’s and no Sheriff Taylors?
What are these guys compensating for with their body armor, door-kickings, and dog-shootings?
Attention law enforcement: you are not soldiers, and U.S. citizens are not the enemy!
Time to return to “peace officers”.
My cat held off a police dog for twenty minutes. Standoff finally ended when the 14 year old 9 pound cat fell asleep from boredom. Of course the guy they were going to go in and get came outside and was standing next to the cops as everyone watched.
They arrested him right after putting the poor dog back in the car.
It ALL depends on where you live. There are still plenty of towns across the nation where cops abide by the rules and they have a city council that makes sure they do.
The media only reports the bad apples. The good ones aren’t “news.”
In Cold Paws :)
Hrm....so in 2005 you were 16.....yet on sept 11 2001 you were 10 according to this vanity post of yours.

Lol
I spotted the same.
Either blog pimping or making this stuff up because on the two different threads the poster can’t get their own age right with these stories he/she printing.
Not true. We have people that post positive cop stories here. I welcome them too. If and when you see them, post them.
Ditto...in one post the older brother was a gulf war vet...in another the older brother was 14 when the op was 10...in 2001???
The gulf war ended in 1991.
yes something certainly is not adding up and I am curious how the freeper will respond to this and explain why these sensational stories sound good but the details do not.

I really don’t care.
Your writing class can be a better place for critique.
The majority of dogs that are shot by cops are shot by sniveling little works who use their guns and badges to help them make up for what they lack in term of brains and manhood. I no longer trust ANY cops; they are as corrupt and out of control as the government they represent.
Another post which is contradictory , it states he or she does not really care about what the world states about American cops because it is how we roll and then posts about cops shooting dogs.
Three (unarmed) police arrived on bikes.
Now thats just pathetic. And this happened in an upscale tourist neighborhood in the heart of Paris. If this had went down anywhere in the USA in an upscale, heavily metropolitan area, you would have had dozens of squad cars full of cops armed to the teeth as soon as the radio said shots fired. And a few minutes later, SWAT would show up. And they would have chased those dogs down and gunned them to shreds, damn the traffic and the pedestrians. I dont care what the world says about Americas cops and their cowboy image, but thats how we roll in this country.
Give him a break. It could depend on when his birthday falls.
