It really is amateur hour at Apple. The tech giants first major product line launch in years has gone badly wrong, with the original in-store sales date scrapped, and no word of when the Apple Watch will actually go on sale for people to, you know, buy.
Sales predictions, and online pre-order numbers look great, but thats about the only thing thats good about the launch of the first new product line to come from Apple under Tim Cooks stewardship. Frankly, everything else associated with the launch has been a balls up from start to finish.
Heres a product that the Cupertino-based company has described as its most personal yet. Its so personal, that the only way you can buy it is online. The least personal shopping experience there is.

The Apple Mac has out-grown the PC market in 35 of the last 36 quarters. . . many times by double digits . . . while the overall PC market has been declining, even including Apple's growth. Apple had 53% of all PC industry profits in the last quarter. You data seems to be lacking in accuracy.
To me, who ACH'ed the price of a new car to the US Treasury yesterday, that is a sign of a well-run enterprise, its Indiana-lavender-hued CEO notwithstanding.
CRApple is done! Their stupid watch reeks of desperation. The long slide has begun. Blame the degenerates who took over at Cupertino and are blowing billions on the new mother ship head quarters. Its so pathetic it has me howling with laughter

Go git ‘em, Dennis! I knew I could count on you!
IBM? PG&E? Where did you get your REALLY FLAWED information?
IBM Market Cap $ 162.27 BILLION #23 on the Fortune 500 List 2014
PG&E Market Cap $ 24.73 BILLION close to its ALL TIME HIGH which it reached just two months ago.
When did these to American Behemoths FAIL? Please, we all want to know when we slept through their spectacular collapse? Do you live in an alternative universe? Oh, wait, you live in the Reality Distortion Field where Apple is about to fail. . . so obviously IBM and PG&E must have failed in THAT REALITY so that it is perfectly rational to believe that Apple is going under! Right. . . sure. . . uh, huh.
Sometimes the messenger is the source. . . and needs to be attacked. In this instance, the message is coming from Beta News, it is their columnist's opinion piece based on a load of misrepresentations and mis-information they are publishing with little to no fact-checking. Read the comments where their own readers are excoriating the author for misrepresenting the facts. LOL!
WOW! The OBAMA Dark Side is strong in this one. He wants a business to PAY DEMOCRAT PASSED TAXES THEY DON'T OWE! It's either that or his Apple Derangement Syndrome has overwhelmed his conservative principles because it is Apple he wants to punish for some slight he received in his playpen. . .
Your Lies betray you. . . Conservatives don't lie. Only Liberals lie. . . and you just outed yourself.
Except Rush was talking today about when he might be buying an Apple Watch. . . and, as usual, DennisW, is not telling anything close to the truth.
I have zero problem with US companies like your CRApple paying US taxes if they want to bring their off shore stashes home! If Tim Cook and his gay cabal had any brains they would bring a good part of that 150 billion dollar offshore fund home, taxes would be payed on it, and distribute it as dividends. We all know its a lie that it would be invested on US soil ....ah maybe a few billion but that it.
“Name three life-changing, hell Ill accept three time saving, features this stupid watch provides to the world, a world willing to accept.
You cant because not even Apple is hitching their wagon to this star. Sorry. Apple is now a one trick pony... phones. Their portfolio has fallen flat. All other products they have are flat or in decline. Investors beware.”
I can’t name three things about the watch. It’ll sell at least 10M units at $500 a pop though. Probably far more, long tail, as companies work out how to monetize it. I’m not buying one because I think it’s kinda lame, but that is only my personal opinion.
You are utterly, utterly wrong, however, about Apple being a one-trick pony with phones. The MacBookPro is the go-to development machine of choice in Silicon Valley. Sure, some people choose a Lenovo with linux, but it’s rare.
Bear in mind that these are people building big, big stuff. It’s my job to make sure they do ... and they like the MBP. That tells you a lot. Never, ever, Windows.
Apple are not going anywhere.
Watch seems even more appropriate for this product, since that’s about all you can do with the information it gives you, yet it “watches” for much more information than the traditional type does.
Shortages also often create demand==and are therefore sometimes artificially created—for new consumer products.
Some years ago, I recall Rush saying that he wanted Apple to sponsor his show, but they refused.
What else did we hear here first?
You obviously dont know how big Manny Pacquiao is across Asia. Billions of Asians are going buy HPs TouchPad due to him. Apple will lose 98% of their Asian sales. HP is in very very close cooperation with the Taiwanese geniuses producing a superior product. They have torn part hundreds of iPads and know what makes them tick. They know how to make it all work better and the result is the HP TouchPad -- dennisw, 2011
Boy do I miss Steve Jobs already!
“Frankly, everything else associated with the launch has been a balls up from start to finish.”
Interesting expression...considering who’s running the company.
We forget that at the time both the original iPhone and the original iPad shipped, other companies had been making smartphones (Palm Treo, Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices) and touchscreen-like computers (Windows XP laptops with stylus input) for several years. The Apple Watch is coming to the market--and the nearest true competitors have only been on the market for at most 18 months. As such, Apple is still on the learning curve on getting the user interface right just like everyone else.
This is not the point of the article. The point of the article is that - unlike previous Apple product launches, which have been spectacular events with great logistics and optics - the Apple watch launch has been grossly mismanaged in comparison.
Why can’t people see this for what it is? It has nothing to do with units dold, cash on hand, or record profits. It’s a misstep for a company that is usually quite good at these things.
Sheesh.
Or for the ladies, apple + bracelet = applet.
Apple does what they want, when they want.
