LOS ANGELES Just five years from reaching the NFL pinnacle as an All-Pro and Super Bowl champion, Darren Sharper is now likely headed for a lengthy prison sentence after reaching plea agreements in charges involving the drugging and sexual assault of at least nine women in four states, his lawyer said Friday.
The alleged sexual assaults happened after Sharpers 2011 retirement and followed a similar pattern. In all of the cases, Sharper is accused of slipping drugs to women and sexually assaulting them when they were unconscious or otherwise unable to resist or consent.

[likely headed for a lengthy prison sentence]
He ain’t no Bill Cosby.
Has he used the concussion excuse yet? Or is that in itself (the failure to use the excuse) proof of the CTE impact? Or does it mean he is so broke he can’t afford a publicist anymore?
He must think he is Ben Roethlisberger.
In other news, Bill Clinton headlined a campaign fundraiser with President Barack Obama today...
Why does it seem that men are drugging women to have sex with them?
Sharper did it. Cosby did it. Others do it. Are women today so demure and self-protective that these men cannot find a partner unless they resort to drugging women into unconsciousness? I somehow doubt it.
Certainly people have a sinful nature, so I cannot pretend surprise that someone has done something they should not have done. But the nature of it -- drugging and raping American women in the 21st century? This is an odd and unnecessary thing. The psychology of this deserves exploration. The relations between men and women today are certainly troubled.
What a complete and utter shame.
I guess he’s not going to get inducted in the Packers Hall of Fame.
And last year around this time, I was watching him on NFL Network and he was carrying on like it was nothing. Sick.
You have to wonder was he doing this while playing.
Wow, how did I know he was one of Obama’s sons?
He definitely qualifies for the Vikings Hall of Fame however....
I don’t know, but WTH kind of disconnect must there be in his mind for him to act this way?
Will he become the prison’s best tight end?
Well, yes — there is a name for it. The English killer John Christie seems to have been the same. Apparently feelings of sexual inadequacy made him more comfortable having sex with women who were in no position to criticize his performance.
It’s not new ... but has our culture made it more prevalent? I think so.
Why is it the mixed drinks that are generally thought of as “girly” are the strongest? Same answer. Some guys don’t want to take “no” for an answer but aren’t quite up to the whole full on forcible rape thing. So they get the girl, drunk or drugged or emotionally vulnerable. If one sees women as “challenges” or “conquests” well then a win is a win.

Good catch. A famous football player has no shortage of women willing to marry them or just “date” them continuously. But he wouldn’t be dominating and humiliating them if they were willing. Same thing could be said of Roman Polanski - he could have actresses for sex partners but those women would be WILLING and he had a psychological (warped) need to humiliate and dominate. These men have warped psychological “needs” to damage and degrade and they seem to be more prevalent in our society with the passage of time. This should mean there is an increase in abusive women as well - they may not get the headlines that famous athletes get but failure to raise psychologically sound citizens is occurring in both male and female populations. Our society seems to have increasing numbers of psychologically warped and abusive people and I beleive it is partially due to the abandonment of the idea of parenting; the kids fail to “raise themselves” and are missing key components of conscience and morality that parenting could have provided.
There is a complete world of difference between drinking with a person, and them drugging you, and how did you work in “emotionally vulnerable”? Isn’t that another way of saying they are looking for intimacy?
There’s a difference between drinking with a person and pouring drinks down their throat until they’re passed out or nearly passed out. Emotionally vulnerable is another target group for sleazy guys that don’t like to hear no.
