If youve managed to avoid looking at the Apple logo while youve been reading this, take the researchers
memory test and see how you do.

Nope. The logo has a dimple at the top and bottom and a chomp out of the right side with a leaf pointing to the right.

The Apple of the mind's eye: Everyday attention, metamemory, and reconstructive memory for the Apple logo Don't scroll down until you've tried to draw the Apple Logo. Below is some examples of the results of the testees and the best of 85 attempts. It is in the center of the samples with a perfect score of 14.

Some of the attempts of the testees at drawing the Apple Logo
Either they are really bad artists, or have very bad memories. The one on the lower Right looks like a bilious stomach. LOL! How did you do?

Why would I want to do so? Good question. . . but only 1 out of 85 tested got a perfect score and his attempt was pretty bad. I can do it, but then I am what might be termed an Apple Fanboy. LOL! However, the testees were a mix of Apple users and non-Apple users and it was amazing how poorly they did. What does that say about our visual memories.
I could also draw the Microsoft Logo from memory. . . but I used to do graphic art work for money. So that might have a lot to do with it. I remember what I see

This study illustrates an old conundrum in memory and learning research: To memorize something, is repetition of exposure enough in itself, what about rehearsal, and is some active motivation (intention to memorize) required?
To: Swordmaker
I know it like the back of my hand. Oh wait, I can’t draw that either.

Pshaw! Today's logo is a piece of cake! You want a challenge? Draw the original logo with the color bars!
![](http://cdn3.pcadvisor.co.uk/cmsdata/features/3343143/Apple_logo.jpg)
Challenge...what year did the color stripes disappear? (Seems like yesterday to me). What was the fist product with the new single-color logo? Why was the color stripe logo "so bloody expensive"?

The MS logo...funny, I cannot conjure up any image at all! And I use it every day. I can kind of see the Win 7 startup screen a bit.

They could have made the test more confusing.
They had the choice of whether the leaf points left or right (2 choices), whether the bite mark was left, right or missing (3 choices) and whether the bottom was indented or not (2 choices) for a total of 12 combinations. Add a two leaf and no leaf choice, a stem option, a couple different bite depths and you are up to 80 different choices.
