Scientists say jaw bone fragment dating back 2.8 million years evidence of earlier evolution

NEW YORK – A fragment of jaw bone dating back 2.8 million years is evidence that the first humans evolved more than 400,000 years earlier than previously thought, scientists reported Wednesday.

The fossil, which was uncovered in the Afar region in northern Ethiopia, is dated very close to the time that the human, or "Homo" genus, or group, split away from more ape-like ancestors like Australopithecus afarensis, best known for the fossil skeleton Lucy discovered in 1974.

Ever notice how all of these “science-minded” people who believe in evolution so much change their timelines so often?

Not true, the world being flat was much akin to our fairy tales we tell children like the man in the moon or what have you. The world being flat was not a common belief.

If mankind’s been around all that time, it kind of makes one wonder what happened the first million years or so.

Discovery is an ongoing process, as is refinement of models, hypotheses and theories.

It’s called the scientific method.

If anyone knows of a better approach, I’d sure like to see it laid out.

Scientists used to say that the wold was flat

This is obviously a typo, it should read...

The wold is fat.

Fatty wolds are a sign of good health.

The jaw bone fragment is evidence of a dead monkey and some money-induced wishful thinking.

Francis Bacon did a great job of formalizing it.

Too bad “hypothesis/test/revision” has been taken over by “narrative/confirmation bias/witch hunt”.

The best approach is the Bible.

“Ever notice how all of these “science-minded” people who believe in evolution so much change their timelines so often?”

The timeline is dependent upon the discovery of the fossils which establish the dates. You know, that pesky little thing called physical evidence.

I just love it when evolutionists say something like, the worm decided that in order to survive it decided to grow wings so it could find food better. They do this kind of crap all the time. That would be like man saying I wish to fly so I think I will grow some wings and take off.

“Scientists used to say that the wold was flat also.”

Eratosthenes made a very close calculation of the circumference of a round or global Earth over 2,200 years ago. See:

It takes some people longer than others to dispense with fantasies and take note of the real world facts.

"It’s called the scientific method. If anyone knows of a better approach, I’d sure like to see it laid out."

The only "scientific method" some people will ever accept, is an assembly of scriptures from orally passed on stories with a time line based on Hebrew lineage. This lineage, composed of men who were reputed to have lived several hundreds of years, is all some people will accept for a documented human time period, never mind our telemeres, chromosomes and DNA evidence to the contrary. All else is believed to be foolishness, and no amount of evidence will ever persuade them otherwise.

“If mankind’s been around all that time, it kind of makes one wonder what happened the first million years or so.”

Isn’t it kind of obvious, otherwise there wouldn’t be any people walking around today.

Monkeys do not have those kinds of molars. Only the Genus Homo has those kinds of molars.
