Does your MacBook Pro freak out with distorted graphics or randomly restart? Then youll want to take advantage of Apples new repair program.
After deeming that a small percentage of MacBook Pro systems may exhibit distorted video, no video, or unexpected system restarts, Apple will start fixing parts for free on select MacBook Pro models.
image: https://stackcommerce-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/ad/image/151/singleproduct_web_the-6-ft-mfi-certified-ios-android-charging-cable_1423083568.png A class action lawsuit was filed against Apple last October over graphics issues with 2011 MacBooks. A petition on Change.org for Apple to offer free repairs currently has over 38,000 signatures. A thread on Apples support forum about the issue has over 4 million views. Now Apple will repair any MacBook Pro purchased between February 2011 and December 2013. The program covers Retina as well as non-Retina models.
While AppleCare would typically be required to get free repairs, the program means that anyone can get their affected MacBooks fixed at no cost. The computer must have distorted or scrambled video on the computer screen, no video on the computer screen (or external display) even though the computer is on, or restart unexpectedly for it to qualify.
Any Apple authorized service provider, not just Apples own stores, will do the repairs. You can check your MacBooks eligibility on Apples website. The programs lasts until February 27, 2016 or until three years after the MacBooks original purchase date.
February 27, 2016 or three years after you bought your MacBook Pro, which ever is later.
I am getting sick and tired of the constant barrage of attacks from him and his friends. It really gets old. They are very tiresome and repeat the same-old same-old despite being told the truth. They are all liars by repeating the falsehoods after being told the truth. Their purpose is disruption.
Incorrect. I personally prefer Samsung, but I’m hardly an Applephobic. In fact, I’ve owned an iPhone in the past and still have Apple products in the house (my daughter has an iPod).
The point is that Swordmaker’s posting history has to be considered suspect. Scroll back through it. It’s all Apple, all the time. And when I say “all the time,” it’s all hours of the day - like it’s a full-time job. The posts aren’t short, and their replete with the kind of graphics you’d see a social marketer have readily available in their toolbox just to counter any argument against the product they’re peddling.
Either his behavior reflects a very unhealthy all-day Apple obsession, or he’s a social marketer who is actually managing Apple posts on several forums.
The funny thing is, he may not have started that way, but I’m betting he started getting paid to push Apple since he joined FreeRepublic.
(The scarier scenario is that he’s NOT getting paid. In which case, you have to look at that posting history with a raised eyebrow. That kind of obsessive behavior usually is treated with medication.)
Regardless, I just thought I’d mention the obvious. It’s one or the other, both of which don’t bode well. Now I’ll go back to actually caring about a whole world of things, instead of just Apple like some people. *cough* Swordmaker *cough* paid social marketer *cough*
MINIONS!
ATTACK!
LOL.
You are a sick, sick man.
Ignore is back on.
Couldn’t make that same claim about any number of things posted here?
Apple is very much a cultural as well technical discussion.
The OP doesn’t work for Apple and neither do I. In fact, I don’t own Apple products. Cept an Ipod Nano given to me by a certain founder who Woz later kicked out of his own company
But, Apple makes a superior product in so many different areas and I tell people to buy their products. Because onky an idiot like me is willing to mess with the registry, while Apple users don’t usually need to concern themselves with anything other than what apple says a user needs to mess with.
Microsuck and IBM clones have a completely different culture and usually it shows up in the form of a 911 plea on FR.
Got it.
So, as others have advised....you might want to just stay away from these threads.
I, like many others, appreciate the pings and the info on all things Apple/Mac.
Ummm ... bolo ... the truly unhealthy cult-like obsession is coming from YOU ... and other members of the APPLE-HATERS CULT ...
I happen to be one of the huge group of Apple customers who like to keep up on Apple news and other reports. I’ve signed up with this Apple ping list to be able to keep up. I’m happy that we have this ping list on Free Republic.
You’re the one who is a member of the APPLE-HATERS CULT and obsessively unhealthy!
Well ... bolo ... you’re the one who has a problem. You have now become recognized as a full-fledged member of the APPLE-HATERS CULT!
FYI - just a random response.
Feel free to waste keystrokes on responses per Swordmaker’s command - I will not be reading a single word of them because, frankly, it’s just not worth my time. I don’t get paid by Samsung like Swordmaker gets paid by Apple.
.
Enough of your anal bleeding.
Shut up!
.
Bolo ... you’re the sick one around here!
Good ... bolo ... don’t bother showing up here anymore!
You remind me of those Muslim terrorists who jump in to an area not to glean information, or be productive, but just to disrupt because it's not for Muslims. You hate Apple, then stay the hell out of the threads. You're as sick as a Muslim POS. Not contributing, then stay away! Swordmaker is an expert at presenting facts. Yes, facts. I appreciate his pings regarding Apple. And lest you brand me solely as an Apple fan, I've worked on dozens of different computers since the 1960s, did long stints as an NT and Windows server admin, dozens of software languages and oversaw mainframe sites. Apple happens to be a leading brand right now, so it is of great interest to millions of people. Get that through your thick skull and begone.
bolobaby, you really need to lighten up and not allow yourself to be so easily deranged by seeing threads concerning certain topics. Many of us look forward to these threads and the posts in them (at least the non-deranged ones) and are very interested in them. Perhaps you should simply avoid threads that anger you and not try to suppress them like the progressives do with thoughts they do not like?
I am glad swordmaker pings me. It keeps me up on what is happening. More power to him.
I like FR because it is informative. I can pick up news here that I find nowhere else.
I have no idea if swordmaker is compensated for his postings; I don’t care either. It’s a voluntary thread, as is any thread on this forum. If you don’t like it, go to some other thread, like the “I judge people on God’s behalf” threads. There were a lot of them a couple of years ago. You seem qualified to bring them back.
Perhaps some people will never grown up.
