Incorrect. I personally prefer Samsung, but I’m hardly an Applephobic. In fact, I’ve owned an iPhone in the past and still have Apple products in the house (my daughter has an iPod).
The point is that Swordmaker’s posting history has to be considered suspect. Scroll back through it. It’s all Apple, all the time. And when I say “all the time,” it’s all hours of the day - like it’s a full-time job. The posts aren’t short, and their replete with the kind of graphics you’d see a social marketer have readily available in their toolbox just to counter any argument against the product they’re peddling.
Either his behavior reflects a very unhealthy all-day Apple obsession, or he’s a social marketer who is actually managing Apple posts on several forums.
The funny thing is, he may not have started that way, but I’m betting he started getting paid to push Apple since he joined FreeRepublic.
(The scarier scenario is that he’s NOT getting paid. In which case, you have to look at that posting history with a raised eyebrow. That kind of obsessive behavior usually is treated with medication.)
Regardless, I just thought I’d mention the obvious. It’s one or the other, both of which don’t bode well. Now I’ll go back to actually caring about a whole world of things, instead of just Apple like some people. *cough* Swordmaker *cough* paid social marketer *cough*

Enough of your anal bleeding.
Shut up!

I like FR because it is informative. I can pick up news here that I find nowhere else.
I have no idea if swordmaker is compensated for his postings; I don’t care either. It’s a voluntary thread, as is any thread on this forum. If you don’t like it, go to some other thread, like the “I judge people on God’s behalf” threads. There were a lot of them a couple of years ago. You seem qualified to bring them back.
Perhaps some people will never grown up.
You might as well not waste the effort, mate. Just like that one graphics chipset programmer I knew a few years back was adamant about how the whole world would be so much better if they simply adopted his favoured graphics chipset instead of concentrating on everyone else’s main CPU families, you will never convince the macophiles that their enhanced-graphics boxen are not the be-all and end-all of the universe.
You only need to look at posted pics of some people using macs as dumb terminals at NASA and then view the posts of the macophiles’ near-orgasmic responce as some sort of validation of the greatness of their goddess and you can not help but see that there is no way to convince them that their semi-computers are not anything but perfection in action.
Sad, really.
It's the first.
So obviously, really, and quite sad in a way. Some people simply are meant to enjoy being part of a particular groupthink definition, and see no reason to look beyond their preconcieved notions in lieu of being part of the herd.
Eh. OK, maybe part of the second as well, but time will tell.
Then tell that to those who post nearly exclusively about the Roman Catholic Church...
Or to those who primarily post any other non-political subject.
You are the one who is blustering about a non-issue. And never mind that the owner of this message board had authorized such technology/computer discussions (thus the reason there is such a category when generating a new thread).
Jim has also strongly warned several for personal attacks and bashing replies on Apple-related threads. The fact that a few mods are more than happy to let some stay for their own apparent pleasure is disturbing... but anyway...
Conservatism includes a belief in a Capitalistic economy - free market principals, etc. Few companies have shown the value of such a market as Apple. For a company that was supposedly going to be dead by 1995, it has grown to be the most profitable and valuable in the world.
There are quite a few Apple users on FR - most of us appreciate the regular updates regarding news, malware (or lack of), technical issues, and more...
If one doesn’t like these threads - then don’t click on them to read them!
I thought Freeper courtesy required a “ping” to a Freeper that is being discussed in a thread.
