I own 2. One just like the pic you posted and a bull barrel with scope. Deadly accurate. I could hunt squirrel with it with confidence. I also have a Browning Buckmark and an old High Standard. Also a Sears J.C Higgins made by High Standard.
Re-assembly can be a bitch! The Browning Buckmark is much easier. But I still love my Rugers. I have a MK I with taper barrel and a MK II with bull barrel...
That’s a nice little pistol. Nothing wrong with a .22. If you can’t hit ‘em once with a .44 shoot ‘em twice with a .22.
I’ve got the Ruger 22/45 Lite with the threaded barrel. I put a red dot on it and it’s a real nice shooter.
Gotta agree with the others about the takedown and reassembly of it, though.
Think: REALLY pricey Rubik’s Cube that goes bang.

Yep. Put a scope on one, and fire from a rest, you can hit small plates at 100 yards all day long. Easily.
Squirrels at 100’ are child’s play.
Bigger hole in the target, bigger wound cavity, greater energy transfer to the target.
Don't get me wrong. If all I had was a .22, I'd use it. But I'd prefer to have something bigger.

Put the bolt in the receiver, and assemble those onto the grip frame.
Take the mainspring housing, and shove the bolt stop pin up into place, until it seats.
Point the muzzle down towards the floor.
Swing the mainspring housing up towards the bolt, so you can see up inside the pistol.
Looking into the grip frame where the mainspring housing will go, you will see the hammer. Pull the trigger so the hammer swings forward via gravity.
You may have to give the pistol a shake away from you to get the hammer to drop forward. You'll hear it click. Release the trigger.
Still looking into the grip frame, rotate the muzzle upwards while watching the hammer strut, it will point down towards the floor.
Swing the mainspring housing into place. You will feel spring pressure the last quarter-inch as the mainspring pushes against the hammer strut.
Rotate the housing latch into place and dry fire to test.
Exploded view here. hope this helps, once you figure it out, you'll laugh. All this fol-de-rol takes less than ten seconds.

Good question.
Try out a S&W Model 617. Classic stainless revolver, 6 inch bbl, 10 shots. It looks exactly like a Model 686 357 magnum.
Shoots great, reliable, easier to clean. It’s pricey though.
