“The pointless remake affair”
I like Guy Ritchie, I am surprised he didn’t cast Jason Statham as Ilya.
Won’t be the same without Mr. Waverly, that’s for sure.

That had to be the neatest gift you got.

Did you see the new Equalizer?...yeah, no one did. I didn't see it either. Apparently Robert McCall spent some time in the tanning booth.

I wanted the Napolean S P-38 gun set, but my parents couldn’t find one so they got me an Illya K gun set and the Illya K gun and radio inside of a cigarette case. That was a good Christmas.
When I see that show now I’m annoyed by the fact that they are all a bunch of socialist lackeys of the UN, which I didn’t appreciate as a kid.

Yes. I was a kid and really didn't understand it but I remember that big freaky white ball rolling around.

I used to love that show on TV

Dumbest idea ever. The original worked because of the cool on-screen personality of Robert Vaughn and his friendship with David McCallum’s Illya Kuryakin. Otherwise, it was just another secret agent show.

I used to love the TV show, but frankly I wish Guy Ritchie would just STFU.

You nailed it. Too much special effects is ridiculous. It’s as if they’re catering to a bunch of 15 year old boys whose main interest is the crazy special effects.
I guess I’m an old fogey.

I looked this over on IMDB. They have Hugh Grant playing Waverly. This was indeed a huge childhood memory for me. I have the whole series box set and while some of it holds up you can see how it ran out of steam by the 4th season. The interplay rivalry between Solo and Kuryakin was the best part of the show imho and overall coolness from a child’s perspective in the 1960s. I was too young to see the Bond movies at the time but I caught up in the 70s. I have grave doubts about this movie but I will give Guy Ritchie a chance with this and see what he comes up with. The odds are against him though. Most of these remade tv shows as movies have been awful but there are a few exceptions.
