Pre-Valentine’s Day panty raids on Victoria’s Secret stores in Atlanta and in Myrtle Beach, S.C., were no laughing matter to police. They are searching for a woman who pilfered 785 pairs of panties worth more than $10,000 and a thief who grabbed more than 30 items worth more than $1,600.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the suspected thief in Atlanta put the panties in three shopping bags and left the store on Saturday. Police released photos of the woman, taken by a surveillance camera, but had not made an arrest as of Thursday.
Meanwhile, The State newspaper in South Carolina reported that a thief grabbed merchandise in a Myrtle Beach Victoria’s Secret on Tuesday while employees were busy assisting shoppers. Police had no description of any suspect.
A spokeswoman at Victoria’s Secret parent company, Columbus-based L Brands, said, “We take matters of theft seriously and work closely with local authorities on these types of investigations.”
