Not too long ago I engaged in a conversation with my spouse about how I learned, quite a long time ago, that a great many television sets--possibly all of them, that are not CRTs but are now the projection, HDs, flat-screen, 3D, curved-screen, Smart Screen, and all the others--have cameras installed in them that are being used to record everything we say and do. And, such information is disseminated to... Since I'm kinda down with a fair bit of pain today, this would be a good topic for me to research, to find out just what TVs have this feature and if so, how to disable it. I'm sure that you, my fellow Freepers, will jump ahead of me and take this puppy on before I even finish my second cup of coffee. God bless you! :-)
I have a camera, if i have any need to do any youtube stuff.
My tv isn’t a smart tv, and i won’t have one, either.
My laptop was ordered without a camera installed, and i will only buy one if it does NOT have one, including if i haver to order it that way..
My glass-faced phone has a face/owner recognition program, but I got rid of that, as much as one can, with all that crap programming that comes with the darn thing.
Now, there may be one unknown to me in that cable dvr box, but I do not have the spec sheets, so i can’t say.
I know of a USArmy former tech/fellow worker who could hook up a tv, in the picture tube days, to make it a camera. Nowadays, with this darn queer in the White House, anything is possible.
We have seven TV's but I never take off my clothes.
If it does have an Interwebs connection...
My phone company keeps sending me mail advertising converting my home to a “smart home”, where everything is connected to the web.
I am reminded of an old cartoon from 45 years ago “The GREAT WASTELAND looks back.”
It was the views of what was going on from the TV’s point of view.
My Momma did not believe in TVs. When my dad died, mom kept his TV, but put a tablecloth over it and draped it down over the screen, as if to cover up the “eye” looking at her. She finally gave it to my sister to get rid of it.
. . . and be taken to Room 101.
Did someone assure her that they exist?
Why would I care if someone is watching me watch TV? My neighbors can just look at their window and see it. If that is all they have to do, I’m glad to give them such a fascinating job.
Except I don’t watch TV but whatever...
You did, once, on July 17th of 2013.
If you want, you can buy the video master...
You should be able to stockpile a supply of old-school CRT televisions to last you the rest of your life. Many people have them and cannot give them away. And in my state you can no longer send them to the landfills either. The Salvation Army thrift store had a very nice selection for $15-40.
You can mock ...... but that poor guy has never been the same since his sister was bitten by a moose.
Malwarebytes recently deactivated a file in my computers called VZdetectagent.exe.
I had recently taken on Verizon internet and when I started looking into this file, I found out it was a Verizon file. I also found some info that it may be a file that reports to Verizon on my computer use including where I go and what I see.
Does anyone else have info on this?
I just put a cut out of Brian Williams in front of the camera...everything is ok now.
.
The fool that wrote this screed sells tin-foil hats at a tidy profit!
.
.
How can the camera on the back of your phone ‘see’ you?
