Texting probed after Bruce Jenner rear-ends car, causing fatal crash

MALIBU, Calif. — Gender-bender reality-TV star Bruce Jenner rear-ended a car Saturday, causing an accident that killed a woman motorist.

Seven other people were injured in the accident, which happened shortly after noon on the Pacific Coast Highway near its intersection with Corral Canyon Road.

Jenner’s dark blue Cadillac Escalade was towing a dune buggy in a trailer when he rear-ended a white Lexus sedan being driven by an ­elderly woman.

This article has the clearest picture I've seen yet of the moment of impact. It's quite haunting as you can clearly see the woman in the white car reacting to the collision, only seconds away from her death.

Meanwhile, Bruce Jenner seems totally oblivious. It's difficult to ascertain whether he is holding a cellphone but clearly he is distracted and has no idea what is happening. He didn't even appear to have slowed down. He struck the women's car with the left driver's side of his vehicle and sent her careening into head-on traffic - and to her very sudden and violent death.

If the police were able to recover Jenner's phone device and be able to correlate any texting activity to the time of the impact, then we are looking at a solid case of vehicular homicide here. Similar to if he was driving drunk.

There were reports yesterday on local TV that Jenner was a passenger in his car, not the driver.

Have not heard that on national media.

Police originally said Jenner was in fact braking, and that the white Lexus slowed or stopped. Does this stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway have street-type intersections as opposed to being a freeway?

Sure does look like he’s looking at a phone, as do other photos.

Maybe after Jenner hit her, in a panic she accidentally pushed on the accelerator rather than the brake.

But even if this turns out to be the case, he is guilty if he was texting.
