Fox News Correspondent James Rosen reported on Wednesday night that a major investor in the parent company of Fox News has been implicated in financing the terrorist group al-Qaeda. Rosen made the embarrassing disclosure in a story on the channels Special Report show hosted by Bret Baier.
The alleged al-Qaeda financier, Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, is a very close friend of Rupert Murdoch and his family, who control major media companies like News Corp and 21st Century Fox. The latter is now the parent company of the Fox News Channel.
Fox News is to be congratulated for reporting on a developing scandal that puts its chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Rupert Murdoch, in a very bad light.
Shortly after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Alwaleed offered a $10 million contribution to a 9/11 fund for families and victims. Then-New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani rejected the money because Alwaleed had blamed the terror attacks on U.S. Middle East policy.
Rosen, a hard-charging investigative reporter, really had no alternative but to cover the damaging disclosures. The allegations were made by Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called 20th hijacker of 9/11, and provided in the form of a sworn statement to attorneys for families of 9/11 victims for their lawsuit against Saudi Arabia.
But Alwaleed is much more than just an investor in Murdochs companies. He is also a personal friend of Murdochs who boasted in 2005 that a phone call to Murdoch resulted in the Fox News Channel altering its coverage of Muslim riots in France, in order to eliminate references to the religious affiliation of the Muslim extremists.
In 2002, it was revealed that Alwaleed had contributed $500,000 to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim Brotherhood front that has boasted of influence over Fox entertainment programs.

I quit watching Fox about 15 years ago. In fact, I do not watch any national news.
How is this a scandal for Fox News?
This financier who’s accused of financing terror certainly hasn’t been influencing Fox reporting on Islamic Terror.
Is this writer scandalized by the amount of support Obama has provided terrorists around the world or the lack of reporting same by the rest of the MSM?
Thank you dearest SunkenCiv!
:’)
I believe this is the same investor who just reduced his holdings in the parent of Fox News from 6% to 1%. Readers of Free Republic have known this for years.
Sure he did. He could simply have refused to air them, which is the standard practice on other networks.
The allegations were made by Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called 20th hijacker of 9/11, and provided in the form of a sworn statement to attorneys for families of 9/11 victims for their lawsuit against Saudi Arabia.
On which two things: 1) Not news. 2) Any statement "sworn to" by Zacarias Moussaoui isn't worth the paper it's printed on. In the instant case he's made this statement, which accidentally happens to be true. It costs him nothing because it was already well known. If he swore to the sky being blue, I'd stick my head out the window.
Kudos to James Rosen, and to Fox News for making a potentially embarrassing admission. I'll be ready to put Fox News into the same box as the alphabet "news organizations" when Bret Baier announces he's taking heavy fire in his studio, or when the Ben Rhodes-David Rhodes-Valerie Jarrett axis admits why Sharyl Attkisson's reporting was suppressed.
Who said waterboarding doesn't work? < /sarc >
This Bret Baier young’n seems like, and comes across as, a straight shooter. I wonder how much longer FOX is gonna let him run?
Everybody else is spoon feeding a careful message, or just plain lying too!
You can’t make your point without cursing at me?
No real progress is going to be made against ISIS terror unless we unfriend Saudi Arabia. That should’ve been the message from 911.
Much like the politicians of today, bought and sold for a price
Overall, I’d say that FNC still comes down right-of-center and right-of-Obama as they were with Clinton in the early days.
“Bret Baier was searing, scorching tonight. Unchained.”
Bauer is indeed a true Conservative. Also, there’s Glenn Beck. I listen to him on my XM while out and about. Helps me detox from all the Political Correctness and other liberal crap inundating us daily.
Is Fox News still on tv? I haven’t watched it in years. Noticed the shift to fluff and slanted news ages ago. I’m a very early riser and the morning “Barbies” giggling fluff news was the last straw.
Megyn Kelly is good; I catch the highlights of her show here on FR. If something interesting happens on her show, someone
usually posts it on FR.
Actually, this could also hurt Obama since he has at least 6 mooselimb brotherhooders in his admin.
Why no mention of him being the LARGEST shareholder in Citi group? Yes, Citi the bank with the biggest exposure to CDS and waaaay to big to fail?
