Morrissey has scrapped a gig in Iceland due to the venue refusing to not sell meat on the night of the show.
The famously vegetarian Morrissey insists that any venue he plays goes meat-free on the night of his performance. However, as confirmed by fansite True-To-You, the Harpa Concert Hall in Rekjavik would not agree to the terms and the gig is now canceled.
"I love Iceland and I have waited a long time to return, but I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust," Morrissey said in a statement.
Morrissey tours the UK next month. The short outing begins at Nottingham's Capital FM Arena on March 13, taking in dates in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Leeds and Glasgow before wrapping up at Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena on March 27.
Morrissey's 2014 tour which the singer described as "what I may risk calling our best tour ever" included just one UK date, at London's O2 Arena. The performer listed the London date as his favourite gig of the year in an end-of-tour message.
However, a European tour last year was met with a number of setbacks including the singer cancelling dates in Greece and Turkey. A gig in Germany was ended shortly after a stage invasion and he walked off stage during his Poland show after being heckled by a fan.
Earlier in the year, Morrissey cancelled a number of dates due to a "flu outbreak" amongst his crew. This came after a string of US dates were scrapped, with the singer revealing that he had been treated for cancer.
Vegetables cause Cancer.
It worked for Don Rickles.
Is it strange I have no idea who this guy is?
Cannibalistic? What are you, Morrissey . . chicken?
I had to look him up too, and we’re contemporaries.
This “Morrissey” idiot must think a whole lot of himself if he believes he’s in any position to make such demands.
If he were to walk down Main Street in my town, or the nearest city, no one would even know who in the hell he is(I wouldn’t). He should be thankful that people even buy tickets to see him perform.(I wouldn’t lol)
....And he wants to throw a little bitch fit over meat. Maybe he should setup in a field and play for some cattle. Would likely cause tainted meat!
Economic Freedom in action. I applaud him sticking to his principles. I also applaud the venue for sticking to theirs.
If he does this for all venues, either enough will comply to satisfy his aspirations to hold concerts, or he will have to rethink his ideals. On the other hand, if the venues see they need to comply to meet their booking goals, then they will have that choice.
Either way, this is how choice should work.
He owes his career to Johnny Marr.
Yup. A vegetarian friend of mine who was diagnosed with heart failure was told by his doctor to start eating steak...pronto. He was one of those annoying veggies who gave up meat after seeing a lamb being born. Didn’t understand anything about his own health.
WTH is a Morrissey?
Your link is no good! And I wanted to see Midget Kiss!
It’s normal and natural for humans to eat flesh of animals. It’s in our nature.
It’s not cannibalism and it’s not blood lust.
Liberalism is a mental illness.
You win a cookie!
He looks like a gay Elton John.
Vegans and vegetarians are also many times agnostics or atheists. They tend to beleive in things like evolution with no God, etc.
Yet they see no conflict when they look at a human’s teeth and see clear evidence we were built as omnivores.
I beleive God made us that way. Evolutionists beleive we become that way. Either way, that is who we are.
Maybe he's related to the chicken lady.
Any vegetables in Iceland got there by cargo ship from Denmark or Ireland/Scotland.
I think Linda McCartney tried to make the same demand when Paul McCartney was on tour in the 1990s. I recall seeing a coupon for a chicken sandwich on the back of my Ticketmaster ticket, though.
What is a Morrissey?
Can it be educated?
