Let me guess. Michelle will be in charge and we’ll replicate the diet of North Koreans in less than 5 years.

Consolidation of government functions to eliminate redundancy and waste, and reducing the number of government staff in the process, is a good thing.
So in concept I can support this if it both reduces government bureaucracy and makes it more efficient.
What I can’t support is it being embedded within HHS. It should properly be within Ag.
To: Olog-hai
Better question, why not consolidate all of the inspection done by the Agriculture department UNDER ONE UMBRELLA, rather than creating yet another agency that simply does the job of other agencies?
Why not? Money, I’m sure. More politically appointed positions that the next president can fill.
Liberals, always the solution ‘more government’ rather than efficient government.

Nothing that ever happens in DC is with an eye to reducing government bureaucracy.

I never saw a law or government agency improve food safety.
That happens at the individual level, by not fornicating with the food.

Bad enough that all of the above are unaccountable executive-branch agencies.

Thats actually what is being proposed: a consolidation of existing functions, which are pretty spread out.
The problem is putting it into HHS. It should be in Ag for a variety of practical and political reasons.
To: Olog-hai
Well, now it comes. The food supply. Will the Duma do anything?

No, none of these should be in the executive department period.
